This was one of the best experience my husband and I had on our honeymoon. The tour is small and intimate and allows you to really get to know the winery and the wine maker. It was fun, informative, and the views were stunning. Not to mention the wine was some of the best I have ever had on my entire life! On top of that, the scheduling was flexible which helped since we were only there in port for a few hours from a cruise. Seriously, dont think twice this is an amazing experience!
I cannot recommend this tour more. Lele was an amazing host. It was raining for most of our trip and we didn't get to go to the beach due to weather, so before he took us to the wine tour he made a pit stop so we could actually see Poetto Beach while the sun was shining. Amazing! He then drove us out of Cagliari and into the mountains to Guiseppe's vineyard. They both were incredibly courteous and knowledgeable about Cagliari and wine. We were given homemade olive oil and balsamic vinegar that was seriously delicious seriously. Then Guiseppe's family arrived and it was an all-around lovely time. We left feeling invigorated and incredibly fortunate to have gone on the tour! Thanks so much! 3
We had a wonderful tour! Our guide was well spoken, very knowledgeable and had a great attitude. We learned more than I could have imagined not only about the winery, and wine making but about the history of Cagliari and Sardena. I would highly recommend this tour.
Amazing trip. Not only did we enjoy Giuseppies winery and the opportunity to see how the vines are grown and the wine made, but Emanuel gave us lots of information about Sardinia - its history, culture and hopes for the future. An experience we will never forget. Thank you.
This was an absolutely amazing experience - and in my opinion underpriced. My best friend and I were picked up from our hotel and driven by our tour guide to the winery. He was on time, knowledgeable, and polite. His English was amazing he also tolerated our attempts at Italian with sincere kindness. On the way to the winery, the guide talked at length about everything we saw - he even had some sort of degree in history or archaeology that made these two nerds very happy. We learned lots! Also, the drive was beautiful. Once we arrived at the winery it was amazing. Every picture and movie you've ever seen about what an Italian winery looks like - this was it. Rolling hills, epic vista, etc... The owner of the winery was our guide at the winery! He is clearly passionate about wine making and shared his knowledge with excitement and patience. The wine tasting was phenomenal. My friend and I are both over-educated wine snobs and we were blown away. Also, the food that was served with it was incredible - with the owner saying things like oh, that olive oil is made from the olives I grow here or the cured meats are from the farmer down the road. Then we were driven home and the guide gave us lots of recommendations for restaurants. An authentic educational experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would both go on the exact same tour again if we ever get to go back. If our guide or the winery owner are reading this review - thank you thank you thank you for a phenomenal time and for helping us to create some amazing memories.
The guides on this tour were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The vineyard was a small one but a growing establishment by Sardinian standards. It is growing within the industry so kudos to them. The spread after the tour was ample and super delicious. The tour itself is overpriced and it might have been nicer if it included a bottle or even half bottle to take away. The personal touch by the owner was very nice.
This tour was absolutely one of the best. Francesco our guide arrived at our hotel exactly when stated. As we drove he explained what we were going to see. Our first stop was in Mamoiada where we visited the Museo Delle Maschere Mediterranee, here we learned about the history, making and purpose of the masks. A very through video demostrated how the masks and bells are made and how the costumes and masks are worn. From the museum we went to Orgosolo to view the street art, some of which is political dating back to WW2. A special treat was having tea and cookies with Francesco's aunt who has lived in this town for her entire life. After which we had lunch at the winery owned by Francesco's college roommate's family.
If you are visiting Caglieri, I highly recommend this tour.
When I booked the tour, it had two options in the instructions 9a and 3p but the system didn't allow me to pick which time. It also indicated pickup at a local hotel but didn't have a place to note which hotel. I went ahead and booked anyway entering all the relevant information in the comments field. Not sure why either of these are drop downs in the sign up process. In any event, the instructions indicated to be waiting in front of the hotel 30-60 minutes prior to the start of the tour we indicated 3p in the comments so we were outside the hotel at 2p per the instructions. We waited 30 minutes and no one showed. It was then approaching 60 minutes of us waiting outside the hotel, nearing 3p and no one came so I called the local number on the booking summary for the tour guide. Unfortunately, no one answered and the message on the machine was in Italian. I left a message anyway. We were about to walk away at 3p thinking it was a lost cause when our driver showed up. We were expecting a van with no more than 8 people per the description. In our case, it ended up being a private tour in the guide's car. At first, we were a little concerned but were quickly put at ease. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable giving us a narrated tour while we drove to the vineyard. He explained they like to keep the group sizes small so everyone is able to enjoy the experience. It took approximately 45 minutes to arrive and we were driven up a steep incline on a rocky dirt road which made the experience very rustic. When we arrived, we were introduced to the owner and found he ran it mostly by himself with a handful on employees based on the season. He took the time to walk us through the vineyard talking about the grapes and back into the fermentation room, explaining the wine making process from start to finish. We were then taken into another room where there was a beautiful array of meats, cheeses, breads, etc.. to enjoy with the wine tasting one red, one white. The whole time, we sat there with our guide and the owner having a nice conversation about wine, enjoying the food and learning about each of them. It was all very welcoming. We never felt rushed and we were never asked to buy anything. The whole experience was so quaint and we greatly enjoyed ourselves. I never expected to have a private tour and would absolutely book this again in a heartbeat. A experience!
Really personal tour with a lot of information, also detailed information about the wine making process. Personal contact, small group we were only with 2. Tasted/drank 2 wines which were really good. Also some nice cheeses and prociutto/ham. But, for the amount of money payed, I would say you should offer more wines to taste and drink and really offer a lunch/brunch. The amounts were just too little, so that was a pity.
Excellent tour that really gave us a sense of Sardinia's history and its people. Prior to heading out of Cagliari, Emmanuele gave us background on the historical sites of Cagliari in the Castello district. He was very entertaining and knowledgeable about all things Sardinia, even stopping at the side of the road to taste and smell local plants and fruits. Once we arrived at Giuseppe's vineyard we were shown around his operation and the vines, and then were able to taste his wines and eat delicious traditional Sardinian foods many of which came from Giuseppe's farm. All in all a great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone.
We booked this wine tour last minute as a group of 6, so were really happy that we were able to go on the tour to Guiseppe Lecis's winery. Our guide, Francesco, was really great - friendly, knowledgeable and drove us around and translated for us!
We really enjoyed the tour, and sampled some fantastic wines and local meats/cheeses and bought a few cases of wine too!
I would recommend this tour to anyone!
Francesco is an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide - not just on wine, but on general Sardinian history and culture. He explained the history of Sardinian villages, the language, farming, wine making, and gave us a very detailed and informative tour of the winery. We ended our day chatting about football and he gave us recommendations for sightseeing and dining in Cagliari. Wonderful tour, wonderful guide, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area to learn about the fascinating and rich culture of Sardinia and to try some delicious wine!.
