The first day was a walking tor which seemed to surprise a number of participants. We visited many of the important Christian sites (not the Church of the Holy Sepulchre which is covered on day 2 if you book the two day tour) The morning part was very good but after lunch (pricey and not that good) we were taken to a souvenir shop which was very expensive and then the guide seemed to spend about 45 minutes trying to sort something out and then told us that was the end of the tour and we were to be returned to Tel Aviv by taxi. This had happened on a previous tour so we were not bothered but we were put into a taxi with several people two other people were going to Tel Aviv and set off on one of the most hair-raising rides of my life. He overtook every vehicle and was swerving from lane to lane. There were three incidents where he had to brake hard and one where he only avoided a crash by swerving into the right hand lane - fortunately there were no other vehicles in it. He finally stopped near our hotel (not at the hotel) and we were relieved to get out. He travelled from Jerusalem to central Tel Aviv in 31 minutes and the first 10 minutes had been dropping off other passengers and traffic.
Our guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. We never felt tired on this journey. I would definitely recommend this tour. A dream-come-true adventure that I will remember for the rest of my life.
I will admit to being concerned that there would be too much overlap between these two tours, but was very pleased that there was little overlap. The Footsteps of Jesus tour was quite different and spent more time over on the east side of Jerusalem and we spent much more time viewing the sites first hand. There was a lot of walking, as anticipated, but it was worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to a fantastic place for lunch. The second day we spent more time within the old city walls. Again, our guide was personable and knowledgeable and did a great job trying to keep the group together and keep people from wandering off. I could see that both tours greatly depended on the individual guiding the tour. I think we were fortunate with Meir and Ron as our guides. It was a good group of people from around the world that made it more fun, too.
