Bologna Food Experience: Factory Visits with Gourmet Lunch and Wine Tasting
, oct 2019
Allesandro is a great tour guide with in infectious sense of humor. I learned so much from each factory that we visited. The processes for each was fascinating I will never use anything other than DOP registered Parmigiano Reggiano cheese going forward. Vinegar from a grocery store is so inferior. Prosciutto was so tasty.
The perfect way to taste Italy

We had a wonderful time on this food experience. We got to see first-hand the care that the Italians put into their food, and learned so much about these very special ingredients. Our host Riccardo was so knowledgable and fun, keeping us entertained the entire day. We had plenty of food and wine the entire day, and the final "light lunch" was unforgettable. I would 100% recommend this tour to any foodies visiting Italy. You will leave full, entertained, and with a new appreciation for cheese, balsamico, and prosciutto.
Arianna was the best guide!!!!

What an amazing tour! Arianna was such a great guide - she was informative, funny and nice! She made our trip to Bologna the best! This was an incredible tour and the lunch was out of this world. My family had a great tine and made some wonderful memories.
Getting to the Source......

Pleasant day with very enthusiastic sometimes overly chatty guide visiting production at source of local food products. Nice getting out of Bologna to local producers and learning about sources and processing. People came from outside of Bologna, staring our very early. A few nibbles on arrival would have been welcome. Some sitting space during some of the lengthy explanations would have been good.
Best Food Tour ever Grazie Francesco

BEST FOOD TOUR EVER - They were a few minutes late to pick us up, but , hay, we are on Italian time :). The Driver was friendly and polite. We shared the ride with 2 other couples and after a quiet and civilized 30 min drive, we made it to our first stop, the Parmigiano Reggiano Factoty. There, we were greeted by our tour guide Francesco and met up with the rest of our group. Francesco made all the difference, He was full of ENERGY and very charismatic. He showed an interest in all the participants and quickly made us all feel right at home. After the tour, at around 9:45, we had to of course taste the Parmigiano, Now, you could not have a Parmigiano without wine. :) We were served as much Lambrusco wine as we wanted. Woohoo, Needless to say, we all became even friendlier after that. After plenty of drinking and explanations, we were given the opportunity to buy some Parmigiano Reggiano, got back into our mini vans and drove to the Balsamic vinegar tasting, We were greeted by the owner and led through the Vineger cantina into his home dinning room, There we were served our breakfast. Salami and mortadella, with fresh bread on the side, accompanied by more Lambrusco. Now that is what I call a breakfast of champions. The breakfast and food explanation was followed by varied Balsamic vinegar tastings, starting with the youngest up to the 30 year aged "Black Gold". At the end of the tasting, we were again, of course, provided with the opportunity to buy some of the "Black Gold" of our choice. We then made our way to the Prosciutto factory. There we tasted and were guided through the prosciutto and mortadella experience, with of course more Lambrusco wine. It is now 2:30 PM and time for lunch at an Agrotourism restaurant where we were served 3 types of pasta, Veal cutlets, meatballs and chicken with a choice of wine. The meal was followed by an excellent Panna cotta type desert, coffee, cherry liqueur and of course GRAPPA. :) BEST FOOD TOUR EVER. Grazie Francesco. We will never forget you. Domenico and Antonia from Canada.
Was even more than expected!!!

Not only was each stop... INCREDIBLE, but our guide, Ricardo, was Spectacular! He was personable, knowledgeable, funny, and more! At each stop, we saw, learned, tasted and drank! The owners of each factory/plant, personally met us and spent time with us. It was a nice sized group (we were 2 amongst a group of 19), where you could meet others but weren’t overwhelmed or felt lost. I would recommend this for everyone near or far ❤️🇮🇹❤️

Unmissable Experience

My wife did some research before we headed to Italy and found the Italisan Days Food and Wine Tour rated highly. It still surpassed anything we imagined. The day starts early but the whole thing is so well organised and Alessandro is a superb guide. Knowledge and humour un abundance. We don't eat meat but when others were tucking in to sliced meat delicacies on the third leg of the tour we were kept entertained with plenty of wine. Finding out how the parmigiano and balsamic vinegars are made and then sampling (with wine) was fantastic. The pace never dropped for the whole day. And just when we thought it was nearing the end you are whisked away to an agriturismo in the country for a fantastic late lunch. Food, wine and conversation keeps coming. We laughed so much and ate great food in a beautiful setting until it was time to be taken back to your hotel. Honestly one of the best tours we have ever been on and the family loved it. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour and it was a genuine highlight of our two weeks in Italy. We went to Pisa and the leaning tower, and we went to Florence and climbed the heights of the Duomo. If I had to choose I would choose the food and wine experience in Bologna so skillfully managed by Alessandro on the day. And he is right - we became, as predicted, Italian food snobs. Be prepared for a full-on experience that lasts a full day and you only wish it wouldn't end.
Best food tour of our Italy vacation!

We read the reviews and they all said it was the best and it truly was. Forgot the name of our guide but she was amazing and a genuine passion! So much food and wine and all high quality! Highly recommend this tour !!!
Best food tour we've ever taken! I'd give them more stars if I could!

I can't speak highly enough of this tour! They offer hotel pick-up which was convenient. We visited Parmagiano Reggiano, Balsamic Vinegar, and Prosciutto factories! 2 meals (breakfast, and a 3-hour lunch) were included with pretty much unlimited tastings of everything including bottomless wine (Lambrusco, Pignoletto (local white)) plus some Grappa! Breakfast was coffee, local Mortadella, Salame and bread. Our guide, Francesco, was outstanding! Lots of fun and good information! You will NOT go hungry, or need dinner afterwards! The lunch was at a restaurant/B&B at a winery on top of a hill surrounded by vineyards, where we ate several courses of pasta, meat, etc! Plus, endless wine! About 12 hours total from start to finish. Also, we got to know our fellow tour mates! Such an excellent, fun tour! We can't wait to visit another part of Italy to try one of their other tours!
