The bus was easy to get to and clean! They explained how the day was going to go and where we would meet up and eat. The tour guide was great. He enjoyed talking about the tour and everything that had to go with it or what we walked by. Highly Recommended.

The overall day trip to Chichen Itza was good and very informative. Our guide Mauricio was awesome and very knowledgeable. We learnt a lot about the Mayan culture. However, the tour started later than excepted and we waited 1h at the hotel until a minivan came to get us to join the rest of the group in Playa del Carmen. I was thinking we were living from Tulum!! Also, The tour doesn't mentioned a stop at the Cenote, however we went there first and had the option to swim in it before going to Chichen Itza. I was thinking this tour was bringing us to Chichen itza right away but we arrived around noon. So it was really hot!! Finaly, the air conditioning in the bus was working poorly on our way back and we the one at the back of the bus suffered the heat all the way to Playa del Carmen :

Overall a good experience. Chichen Itza was beautiful, the food was good, the Cenote was a view to behold. Not happy about the tightness of bus/ van that took us the 2 hour drive would have preferred the bus that picked us up from the meeting spot. Bus/van was older, loud music played the whole two hours early in the morning to Chichin Itza. The Private Entrance involved too many sales pitches: calendar, jewelry. I would have preferred less talking during tour and more time to roam. Communication of delay of return because we had extra passengers just made the day too long. I have used Viator many time to book tours in my travels over the last three years, this was my only 3 star rating.

The tour was fantastic. Seeing all the temples at Chichen Itza was amazing. My tour guide, Ladio Aguilar, was great. He kept the tour light and fun, but still offered a ton of information about the Mayans and their temples. Ladio was very friendly and answered all of my questions. It was a bi-lingual tour, so the guide had to switch back and forth between English and Spanish. It was easy to follow along though because the tour guide spoke clearly and did not rush through things. The tour was through Mayaland Resorts, so they sort of plug their own resort and facilities during the tour, but it was done more in a casual and less intentional way. The only thing I would complain about this tour is that they do not tell you in advance that they stop in Carmen La Playa before heading to Chichen Itza. Still the slightly over 2 hour drive is worth it in the end. Also, on the way back from the tour, they stop at Tulum first before heading back to Carmen La Playa.

Loved Chichen Itza! Beautiful place. It was a small group of 15 people, which is very small compared to a lot of the other tours we saw. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the ruins and the Mayan People and culture. The only thing that I would change, was that the beginning of the tour was all outside Chichen itza, and seemed more like a sales pitch for some of the Mayaland Resorts shops, instead of in the actual ruins. It just dragged on a little linger than expected. All in all, it was a very informative and great tour of the place. No matter which way you decide to go, definitely see Chichen Itza if you're in Mexico!

Tour started well. We were picked up in a very nice air conditioned Mercedes people carrier. However this was soon over as we transferred to a larger, but more cramped minibus. The air conditioning of which seemed underpowered as we continued to be hot during the 2 hour each way drive. The guide seemed to think we were uninterested in the tour, but we were tired, and our son was beginning to suffer from the heat. The guide seemed to concentrate explanations to the other nationalities on the bus. A quick 10 minute toilet stop was taken each way. This was ok. Gents toilets blocked. On reaching the site, entrance was nice being away from the normal crowds and at a small restaurant that had cool drinks. However we were not expected to stay as the guide got the tickets and quickly handed them around and then everyone was off on a March so it seemed . We were going to follow but because our son was having issues after being on such an uncomfortable journey, we said we would catch up with him. This never happened. We never found him until time to leave. In fact , on our way round, we found another couple who had got lost, and whom had met another couple from the group also lost. Almost as though the guide was not bothered about whereabouts or welfare of his group. The site itself is small but impressive. Interesting sound reflections from the central pyramid when groups clapped. Spent a long time there as a lot to see. Only main distraction is that the site is not only surrounded by, but also encroached on by, around 100 souvenir sellers stalls. Spoilt the effect of the place. Every time you walked near a stall you were hassled. Not nice. So main tour good. Guide not so. Transport poor.

We chose to do this full day tour the first day of our honeymoon, and we loved it! Our guide was Mauricio, and he was a delight-- he spoke fluent Mayan, Spanish, and English, and was able to give us insight into the Mayan culture, which was great. My husband and I enjoyed walking through the gardens of Mayaland, and putting our feet in the pool. The walking tour was wonderful, and the temples are truly beautiful. Unfortunately we missed the documentary they show on sight because we were buying souvenirs, and they lock the doors! The size of the tour was great also.

Loved the tour content, the pace, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and the driver! Lunch was great and it was nice to have some free time after lunch to re-visit sites. The only reason I give this tour a 4 is because Viator will pick you up only at 5 major hotels in Tulum. If you stay somewhere else, the meetup point is at San Francisco supermarket at 7am which was about 20 min away by taxi from my hotel. Because it's my first time to Mexico and I wasn't sure how safe it would be, I called Viator a day before and asked if they could pick me up at my hotel Yoga Shala Tulum, they said it's not possible. I arranged a taxi the day before for 6:15am but the taxi never show up. I was outside the hotel since 6:15am and not one taxi drove by till 6:50am. I was lucky to finally get a taxi and barely made it for the tour. Then I found out that I was the only one being picked from Tulum the shuttle then drove to Playa Del Carmen to pick up the rest of the group. So, it was disappointing to know that the Viator could not have picked me up at the hotel since I was the only one being picked up from Tulum and felt a lot of stress early in the morning about not making the tour, since it's a challenge to get a taxi from my location early in the morning. For this reason, I don't think I will book any more tours from Tulum with Viator.

This was a very interesting tour to Chichen Itza. It's a long drive from Tulum but the minivan was comfortable and the ruins are very impressive so it was definitely worth the journey. The guide was also very interesting and knowledgeable.
