Tongass Historical Museum
The history, art and culture of Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska are preserved and promoted by the Tongass Historical Museum in Ketchikan.

The museum’s program of permanent and temporary exhibits, workshops, educational programs and events explores the region’s varied history over the centuries.

Changing exhibits might cover photography or local collections, local history or community projects. The museum’s permanent exhibits include ‘The First People,’ with Native Alaskan artifacts, tools and art from various cultures including the Tlingit people.

The museum has an extensive collection of archival and photographic material, which can be browsed by appointment.
