Elle was an amazing guide! She knew just where to take us in order for us to truly experience the different flavors of Auckland. We started in the local market where we sampled delicious quiche and croque monsieur. The brownie was amazing and the limoncello divine! We also went to the shop where chefs buy their cheeses and various ingredients. We tried and also purchased some amazing cheeses and tea! We some how also managed to grab some yummy apple syrup to bring home and hide from the kids!
Elle also took us to lunch for some Auckland local seafood. Perfect! Elle knows the ins and outs of Auckland and the best places to go if you want to experience the flavors of Auckland. She is funny and entertaining and we truly enjoyed our tour and meeting her. I highly recommend Big Foody Food Tours if you want a true taste of Auckland.
A food tour by car, an excellent approach to see more of the area and experience a broad selection of food. Elle has a great breadth of knowledge of the cuisine and local happenings, she was a delight. Starting at the Fish Market we went out of Auckland to the Takapuna area for morning tea and pastries. We made a non-food stop at the Pump house, the lake was that was the source of water for many years for the city, now a beautiful small theater. We were then off to Sabatos, a local excellent store for spice, oil, vinegar, cheese and other local and imported food ingredients. We were treated to mushrooms, oil and vinegar testings and local cheese also bought a lot of stuff!. We ended up at the fish market with a complete explanation of the receipt and auctioning of the fish that come though the market. We finished at a small Restaurant in the Fish Market with samplings of local seafood and local beer. This is a great tour to get a look at the wholesale and retail end of the food chain.
It is food! What is there not to love? And our guide Elle, was very knowledgeable and easy to speak with. This was in Auckland and we also went to Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown. Elle gave us excellent recommendations on where to eat in every city! For my wife and I, it was all about the cheeses...so good!
Top top day! We loved every minute of it. Elle was so knowledgeable, kind and courteous. She was so accommodating and every part was just a true delight. I would do it again in a flash! Just brilliant and to foodies like us was right up our street.
My guide Colleen was absolutely gorgeous!! It was one of the best Foody tours I've ever been on! She met me in a very convenient location and after tasting some beautiful coffee at a local grinder, we walked down through to the city, stopping at great little foody spots along the way, ending up at the fish markets with a cool 'behind the scenes' tour and a delicious seafood lunch. Her knowledge of her city and its history was excellent and she was so much fun to hang out with. I really appreciate everything - I recommend this tour to anyone who has a free day in Auckland and enjoys food!! Cheers!!
