If you're like me- you hate signing up for a tour and arriving only to find out there are 50 other people on the tour and you will be following the leader with the umbrella or flag. Nothing can scream tourist more. This is the exact opposite of that- a private tour! Walking and seeing the sights with a local was a breath of fresh air. Our tour guide, Jorge, arrived on time meeting us in the lobby of our hotel. He was extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable of the area and the history of Barcelona. He came prepared with a binder full of historical pictures and showed us what Barcelona looked like at the time we were discussing and the important people that helped shape the city. You can tell he had a passion for what he does. Jorge definitely will teach you things about Barcelona that you never knew. We were never rushed. Jorge kept reminding us that this was our tour and we can take as much time as we wanted or ask as many questions as we want in any of our locations. He also played photographer for my husband and I- we got so many great pictures. Jorge also asked about us and shared many of his own experiences about living in Barcelona, his education and travels. He made us feel very comfortable like we were all old friends. At the end of the tour we all sat and had a coffee together included in the price of the tour and Jorge provided us with a map of the city where he had taken the time to circle the main sights of Barcelona. This might be more expensive than a group tour but it was well worth the extra money.
