The tour was OK. we fist went to Cairo tower, it was good. However the felucca suppose to sail for 1 - 1.5 hours, but we only do for about 30 minutes. the mountain view is good, but the food included is only vegetarian and not my type the guide call to office and they can offer swap from those vegetarian food to kebab when we at night bazzar for takeaway, but i am not in the mood to have takeaway when joining the tour. the night bazzar also is good and interesting. Overall, the tour shows 6 hours tour, but it actually about 4 hours including the time in the traffic, so we actually spend about 3 hours in the location to view.
I would suggest if you can go without the tour because it would be cheaper. But if with young children, then the tour would be easier for you.
We arrived at our hotel 4pm and were off and running by 5p with Yasser Fouly of Egypt Lovely Holidays Day Tours. Yasser was extremely knowledgeable and first took us to the Tower then Sailing on the Nile. We had already researched Egyptian textiles and knew where we wanted to go in the Bazaar. Yasser took us to the Egyptian street with vendors specializing in hand woven Egyptian table linens. We were able to buy 3 lovely table runners from 3 different shops. One must bargain and it is alot of fun. We stopped for dinner on the street and ate it in a famous Bazaar coffee house. We even took a Tuktuk thru the bazaar. This is the way to see Cairo and the Bazaar at night. Yasser was wonderful! Thanks again Yasser!
My wife and I had a blast with our guide Mina and driver Basem! We did an evening tour that included a trip to the top of Cairo Tower, a sunset felucca ride, El Mokkatam mountain, a koshary dinner, and Khan el Khalili bazaar. Mina took great care of us and was flexible when we wanted to spend time at El Fishawy. Basem or DJ Basem was very accommodating with the music which made my wife really happy. It did not feel like a tour at all. The evening felt like a group of friends that had known each other hanging out and enjoying the evening. He also heard me mention that we wanted to by perfumes and took us to Kingdom Perfurme in Giza where we were able to purchase a couple that we liked. Mina was also awesome at taking photos. I highly recommend the evening tour but you have to do it with Mina and Basem!
This is an AWESOME tour, and a great way to start your Egyptian experience! I arrived to Cairo Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 8:30am. After a long travel, I rested for the day, and did the tour at night. I was to be in my hotels lobby at 5:00pm. I got to the lobby at 4:55pm, and Ashraf was there and waiting... I love punctuality! We went to the car, and I met my wonderful driver, Bassem. We first went on a felucca ride on the Nile River. It was very enjoyable and relaxing. Ashraf was very knowledgeable of Egypts rich history, and enlightened me on the fascinating history of Egypt as we leisurely cruised. As a solo traveler, I did not have a companion traveling with me to take photos, but Ashraf was very accommodating in taking photos of me. We then went to the Cairo Tower, and Ashraf made aware to me that if I paid 100 additional Egyptian pounds, I could skip the long lines, and have a drink included at the end of the observatory. I am glad he mentioned this added bonus because it saved us a lot of time, and I had the opportunity to try a local beer which was delicious! Next, we went to a local restaurant to have Koushary. It is the nations traditional dish, and it is very YUMMY!!!! I was the ONLY foreigner in the restaurant, but Ashraf made me feel very safe and comfortable. Finally, we went to the bizarre which can be quite overwhelming because of all the hustle and bustle, and the locals like to harrass foreigners to buy their goods. Ashraf was very good at handling the locals, and letting them know when I was not interested in buying. He was very protective of me. We went to a local restaurant in the bizarre to smoke Hookah, and have a beverage. As I was people watching, I noticed a young girl with henna. This reminded me that this was one of my things-to-do in Cairo. I expressed to Ashraf that I was interested in getting a henna tattoo. Before I could finish, he said something in Arabic to the waiter, and within minutes a henna tattoo artist was at my table! She did the most beautiful, intricate design of henna I had ever seen! It was absolutely AMAZING! Ashraf had to agree that it was some of the best work he had seen. At the conclusion of the night, Ashraf walked me to the door of my hotel to ensure my safety. I gave him a really nice tip, and to the great driver as well, but I feel no amount could equal the great experience and memories he and Bassem created for me.
Cairo by night. One of the must do on your 1st day in Cairo. Manar Atwa our tour guide when over our expectations. So much to tell about what we saw and how much we learned in one night... food people and traffic. The Cairo Tower and the view from the coffeeshop inside the Tower a must do...Manar recommended to take a break here and have your 1st cup of Turkish coffee. The Felucca Ride on the Nile and the city view it was just great. She took us to the famous Khan El Khalili Bassar... it was shopping time. She did stop at the shops of your choice and bargained the price for us. Then we stop for some delicious Egyptian food. Spaghetti/lentil and some ref sauce... we just love it. Our last stop was at the top of a mountain from another location just to see the whole City of Cairo. Manar a real...honest and knowledgeable person. Thank you so much for making our experience unforgettable.
Note: We hired her for another improvised tour by us and she took good care of us. Highly recommend
the problem of tours in Egypt is that you will always feel that you are surrounded by people who want money, they want money for everything, if you said hello to anyone, then he would ask you for some money, in general you will not be happy in your tours, because you will spend all of your time saying no thanks for people asking to do services to you !!!
Our guide was speaking all the time, he did not stop !!! we did not need too much information, we needed some relax only, he stayed all the time with us, in mokattam mountain he stayed with us, he did not leave us at all !! we needed some time alone !! in khan al khalili, its the same, at the end i was rude a little bit, and i said to him: please we need some time, at least 15 or 30 minutes to do shopping !!!! he is a cute person, but he speaks too much, and he speaks about things not related to the trip.... for example he speaks about politics and shiaa and sunni etc....... we were not there to discuss the political situations, but to do some relax and tourism....
In addition of that, in the Cairo tower, there is only one lift, and they put in this left around 10 or 15 people !!! like they are transporting animals, not humans !!!!!
