Our guide Josh and our horse Austin took us on a fun and relaxing tour through historic Charleston. Josh taught us all so much! Both of our kids, ages 11 and 14, loved it. I highly recommend to everyone.
The ride, the stories, the enthusiasm of the driver was wonderful. At some points she did make some things too political noting sanctuary cities is based on the actions of the confederates. She repeated herself too much about how we need to appreciate conderate history. Overall, it was great and I recommend it, but she should not try too hard for us to be okay with confederate history as no one questioned her or critiqued it.
First, Old South Carriage Historical Tours take excellent care of their horses and that is evident as you leave from their barn. They are also the only tours that have guides in uniform and a ramp to get you into the carriage! The professionalism was amazing compared to other carriages seen on the road. Lori was our tour guide, very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor, particularly with Buddy, our horse, who didn't always want to stop and wait when requested. Lori's knowledge of the history of Charleston, including the architecture of the different homes was truly amazing. We were there for a wedding and already recommended the tour to others who were staying longer during the week. Highly recommend and would love to go on other tours the company offers. Thanks Lori and Buddy!!
This was a great tour and I recommend it to travelers who want a relaxing and informative view of the historic district. Our tour guide provided a lot of history and personal touch to the tour. Seats were assigned for us and we got put on the back row. The tour guide wasn't very loud so my husband and the other man on our row had a hard time hearing a lot of what she said. I was unpleasantly surprised that our tour did not include Rainbow Row. My understanding at this point is that there are several different tour routes and you will be randomly assigned to one of them so there is no way to know ahead of time which sights you will see on your tour.
