Not a private tour
, jul 2019
My family and I did not have a private tour we signed up for as there was another couple with us. They told us that they too had booked a private tour! Viator has been our top choice for years now. We have had excellent service on Viator from Norway to Spain and this was the first time we were not given a complete offer. Yes, a boat ride was thrown in Portuguese (we don’t understand) but we really didn’t enjoy it. We asked for a partial refund (which was given to the other couple) but have not had a response.
Amazing day trip to Porto
, jul 2019
Our tour guide Hugo was absolutely phenomenal and made the experience unforgettable for my family and me. He had a ton of knowledge about the sights as well as about Portuguese history and culture. As a result, he showed us amazing little gems around Porto that we would have never seen otherwise. Also, he was very accommodating as my 78 year old grandma was along for the trip so he was great about dropping us off right next to where we needed to be and then running back to grab the van so we wouldn't have to walk very far at all. The spot he took us to for lunch was also absolutely beautiful (there was even a first communion party going on there on the side) and had delicious local food and wine. Finally, he very kindly added one last stop to the trip per my grandmother's request and allowed us to take all the time we needed at the Sanctuary of Fatima on our way back to Lisbon. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and I am so grateful to Hugo for such a fantastic experience.
Quick getaway to Porto
, jun 2019
Since we didn’t have the time to visit Porto separately, we opted for this day trip that covers Porto in a day. The tour was to begin at 7:30, but because of traffic, etc. we weren’t picked up until 8:15. However, there was excellent communication throughout. Our guide Hugo, was very knowledgeable about the area and pointed out some landmarks along the spectacular 3 hour drive up north to Porto. The first stop was a wine tasting at Calem cellars, followed by some free time. After a wonderful lunch of traditional Portuguese fare, Hugo then took us on foot through the old town of Porto to explore the beautiful city and explained the history and buildings of the area. We then took a ride to the Porto Cathedral and walked across the Duoro bridge which offers spectacular panoramic views of Porto and the river. As an added bonus, we skipped the coastline drive and Hugo extended our tour so that we could visit the fishing Village of Nazaré, which included the spectacular Lighthouse with awesome views over the Atlantic Ocean and some of the largest waves and significant surfing history of the area, due to the narrow shelf off the coast. We highly recommend Hugo and this tour for a short stay in Lisbon.

We planned our holiday in Lisbon with a day trip to Porto with a private driver. Since my husband was not well we thought this would be a great way to see a city. We planned around this day to see other sites in Portugal via Lisbon without a hitch. We woke up early for breakfast for our 7:30AM pickup time at our hotel. We were waiting in the lobby for our driver HUGO who called the hotel at 7:15AM TO SAY HE WAS SICK AND NOT ABLE TO TAKE US TO PORTO- HE DIDNT EVEN TRY TO CALL US- the co had our number. We tried calling his co and no answer and no response via email or a phone telling to us the day before a change of plans to replace him with another driver. My hotel did the same thing- no response from KNIGHT RIDERS the tour co. if I was booking a trip with 20 people they would respond. Calling Viator, they too couldn't get a response from the local tour operator KNIGHT RIDERS. Let me point out, the tour operator KNIGHT RIDERS sent me tour instructions and mentioned everything we were to do that day in Porto in the letter via our email. The letter from KNIGHT RIDERS stated the average time spent at each location and UNFORTUNATELY we have to depart Porto at 4:30PM to arrive at our hotel by 7:30PM. UNFORTUNATELY WE DIDNT GET TO 4:30 WITH THIS TOUR. My point- any letter with the words "UNFORTUNATELY" doesn't sound good to begin with especially on a vacation. Viator I am a long standing customer and this was the first time we were put out by a low end company who works for you. On our vacation, I had to call Viator several times to explain I wanted my money back. I did receive it. Thank you. I also got a phone call from the tour operator KNIGHT RIDERS a woman saying" ha-ha (laughing) so sorry this happened to you. She mentioned" ha- ha, next time we are in Lisbon we will do a nice trip for you. There is no next time. My time is too valuable to wait for something that wont happen. Please sent this review to the CEO OF VIATOR/TRIPADVISOR as I have sent a letter to to Stephen Kaufer as well.
Porto from Lisbon wine tasting, tour and lunch

Our driver and tour leader was very knowledgeable and courteous. Porto is beautiful, our lunch however left a lot to be desired.
Day trip to Porto
, abr 2019
With a short visit to Lisbon, my husband and I decided to squeeze in a day visit to Porto. We are so glad we did this because it was the highlight of our trip! The locals thought we were crazy because it takes about 3 hours to get there but it's so worth it if you are not able to go there longer. Our guide picked us up at our hotel and drove us there. He provided great History along the way. Upon our arrival, he had set up a Port Wine tasting and cellar tour. This was great and very educational. We stopped by a few more places to taste some unique ports. Then from there we headed to lunch for a traditional Portuguese meal. After that, we went into the city and got walk around and see the sites. We ended our day with another Port tasting, then drove back to Lisbon. It was a great day in a city I know we will return too.
Amazing Private Tour
, abr 2019
We had such a great time on our private tour to Porto. Hugo was fantastic, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. He was accommodating of our requests and made the day feel personal. We did the port wine tour, lunch, walking around the city, and even a boat ride! I would highly recommend this trip and definitely ask for Hugo.
Worth Seeing

Worth seeing and was absolutely beautiful. Pass on Port wine tasting and take a boat ride ( promised but not provided). Not well planned and implemented . Amazing views.... long day.
It was a beautiful sunny day. We LOVED...

It was a beautiful sunny day. We LOVED that our guide took lots of photos of my husband and I. The visit to the wine cellar was fun. Did you know that only wines produced from this region can be called Port, and that there is white Port that is not exported? The lunch at an authentic Portuguese restaurant that is frequented by Portuguese, not tourists, was a treat. The food was good. Besides wine, we were served a beverage that tasted like Tang, as well as bottled water. We thought that was interesting. We visited an old church where we climbed all the way to the top of the steeple and looked out. It was quite a long climb on skinny stone stairs, then you are rewarded with an amazing view of the city and beyond. I think you can see all the way to the ocean, but I'm not sure. We loved our guide.
