Batiste was knowledgeable, fun, and easy to talk to. The food tastings were beyond expectations. The historical part of the tour was fascinating leading us through passages to bouchons. Excellent! Thank you!
We thought this tour was really good. Our young guide was friendly, attentive, keen to show us around and was interested in us as well. We were lucky because we were the only ones on the tour. But, we were given a great tour of the old town with just enough history of the place and we were given a great history of Lyonaisse food. Also included were hints on the best Bouchons. Very helpful! We have visited one and it was excellent! The tour is leisurely paced and you visit the old town, the peninsular and finally the Halles Paul Bocuse. The tastings were very good. All provided generous tastings with advice on what you were eating and where it came from. A good tour, not cheap, but recommended.
Cant really call this a food tour. More like history walking tour that ended in the Bocuse market with some cheese and etc.The guide was nice but seems a bit new to this. The food tasting selection was ok. Not the best food tour i have been on.
We expected more from the tour guide. He had general knowledge of history but not dates when something happened or was built. The general response was within a century or a period in history. His expertise was more on the wines of the region and was doing this tour to diversify his job. His pace of the tour was adequate but as he was walking he was also talking and only the people next to him benefitted from his comments. The food portion of the tour also was average. We stopped at about 6 to 8 different locations sampling a brioche, specialty candy, quenelles, wine, and a few different cheeses. At one food stop, there was not enough room to seat our group of 6 people to experience their specialty food. It would have been nice to try some seafood dishes. On the more positive side, the tour guide provided the cost of the public transportation to get us to the main food emporium.
