We had a great time on this tour and were introduced to some of the perhaps, lesser known pubs. Our guide was enthusiastic and right amount of informative, all while making sure we drank some excellent beer. Prost!!!!
I took this tour on January 13, 2018. I can not recommend this tour. It was a complete waste of time and money. The tour guide was a Peruvian woman who had been in Munich for only six months. Her English could have been better. The first stop of the Beer Tour was a very short walk from our meeting point, Hauptbahnhof all we did was walk across the street. We spent about two hours there sipping two 0.3 liter beers that were from a brewer outside of Munich. Very disappointing that we weren't drinking beer from one of the six Munich based brewers. The guide held a very short discussion on toasting in German and the Reinheitsgebot. She also showed us a diagram or presentation on beer making that was on her small screen smartphone very unprofessional. Our second stop was the Paulaner im Tal, where we had the last of the promised three beers. The third stop was to a Augustiner brewer establishment, where the tour guide informed us that we had to purchase our own beer we were also encouraged to purchase food. What was the point in going to the last stop unless there was a financial incentive to the tour operator. The Beer Tour was a terrible experience. Basically, we had to keep ourselves entertained by either talking with whomever we came with or the other people on the tour. I didn't need to spend 48 Euros to talk with my wife or total strangers. Viator should be ashamed for listing this tour. When my credit card statement arrives, I plan on challenging this charge.
Our flight was delayed, and they were kind and willing to work with us. They told us the location of the second stop so we could meet the group there. Our guide was very young and had average knowledge of the city and history however, it was worth the price nonetheless to get prime access to the often crowded gardens. It gave us a great overview of which gardens we'd like to spend more time in. We made friends that we got together with later in our trip and still keep in touch. Overall, it was definitely worth it!
If you don't know anything about beer, then do this tour. Otherwise, if you do and want some historic information to Munich then I'd recommend this tour. It's more of a social event then learning about beer.
Our tour guide Heidi was very knowledgable about everything beer, took us to some of the older braühaus in Germany, the octoberfest grounds and to see the Lady of Bavaria Statue. Easy to make friends over a beer
The tour consisted of around 10 people and our guide was Carlos, who was very cheery. Actually there was some change and miss in the content of the tour offered, which I am not sure whether it's a slip from Viator or the tour company!
First of all, there was no Jägermeister shot! We had an initial beer not in a hall, then went into a beer hall where we had 3 samples. Then onto a beer garden which we have the option to purchase beer and food! So kindly check the matter and clarify accordingly.
