The ferry and tour were overcrowded. Our 10 am ferry departure which was late to leave, hot, and packed so no seats available for trip got us to Delos during the heat of day. We had at least 30 people in our group so it was difficult to get close enough to hear our tour guide, but it was insanely hot. After listening to our guide who was not that interesting for an hour, we decided to skip the rest of tour and take the early ferry back. If I had not packed an umbrella to shield us from the burning rays, we would have been miserable. The site itself is amazing, but it would have been much better to get a private or semi private tour, and go either very very early in the am or later in the pm.
This was an outstanding tour with a learned , enthusiastic guide, Christiana. She was very knowledgeable and passionate . She was personable and added humor when appropriate. It meshed perfectly with our tour a few days earlier of Mythological Athens. Well worth the time and money
Wow! The guided tour in Delos was the highlight from my visit in Mykonos... everything was so well organized the trip started on time and the information that the guide shared with us in Delos were outstanding... i will definitely suggest it to my friends that will visit Mykonos this summer, its a nice educational break while you are under the extreme lifestyle in Mykonos... Thank you!
the day before the tour, the tour company changed the time of pick up. We did not get notified of such, probably because we were on a cruise ship at the time which made our text messages almost impossible to get. Consequently, we missed the tour. Tour company said it was our fault that we missed it. Buyer beware.
The island of Delos was incrediable to walk around. Our guide was full of knowledge. It was hard to hear sometimes because of the size of the group, but still very worth while. The boat ride was rough but I guess it is always windy there. I still would highly recommend the tour.
The island is awesome. I suggest getting the one without the tour guide. As we got there, the guide was telling all the stories about the island and spending a lot of time at each site. She was doing a great job but I am more of an explorer than standing for 15-20 min listening to details that I will forget. So I left the guide right at the beginning and went exploring on my own along with my husband and we were able to see the whole island. The group wasn't able to see all I did. If you pay for this tour without a guide as you get there, it costs only EUR 20. I paid about EUR50 through here for the guide without knowing I had this option.
Tour guide went way too much into depth on the homes located on Delos. Ended up walking out of the tour due to the fact that the tour guide gave no pertinent information. All she talked about were the homes. I heard hardly anything else about Apollo or the other Gods.
