My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and our tour guide Jim. He shared so much information and tips with us it was invaluable. My highlight of the trip would have definitely have been the swamp trip seeing the wildlife and beautiful scenery, while I also enjoyed hearing about the history of the plantation. If you are undecided, give it a go you won't be disappointed!!!

Capt. Tom is an expert and keeps it real! Apparently people have complained about witnessing gators eat prey - quoting the capt., “duh!” It’s the wildlife and the natural food chain. Get off the boat if you’re too sensitive to reality. The tour was highly educational and entertaining, and was a great, sunny day so we saw a ton of gators as well as racoons, etc. Aside from gators, we also learned more about other wildlife (crawfish, turtles, pigs), the history of the swamp and its people, and Louisiana in general. Visitors should also know that not all tours will be the same, really depends on the weather. Be realistic!

Very good overall. Guided Plantation Tour. Guide informative and extremely knowledge. Swamp boat ride relaxing. Saw many gators, raccoons and turtles. Gators came up close to the boat for marshmallow treats.

It was an awesome tour which kept us and our young boys interested and involved the entire time. The combination plantation and swamp tour in the roughly 5 hour timeframe was just right and we neither felt rushed nor bored. The guides were all great and very knowledgeable - Dionne from Grayline, Beverly from Destrehan and Captain Allen from Cajun Pride Swamp Tours!!!

This was very informative, providing us with a good historical background on the Plantation lifestyle, economy, and the Creole culture. Our swamp guide Nolan was very good. Nice to hear from someone who really grew up in the bayous and to understand how so much has changed in that world. Having done a few swamp tours, I was impressed with the umber of crocs we saw...fortunately no snakes! Then rounding it our our bus guide, Ken, had loads of info and insight on how New Orleans has come along after hurricane Katrina and the ecological damages that continue on today. Well worth the time and money to take this tour.

I liked these tours very much. The guides were very knowledgeable and entertaining. The Plantation was a learning experience. Learned many facts about the Destrehan family and their slaves.
A great combination to see some history and experience the swamps and alligators

This is a great trip. We took our 17 year old kids and they loved it. The two tours balance the "history" aspect and the wildlife. We all enjoyed it. Should do this when you come to New Orleans.

I enjoyed the tour. It gave me a good impression of what life was at the plantation and is around the swamp. Alton was an excellent driver and Midge was a great tour guide . I live in the Pacific Northwest, so the south is a different environment than what I live in.
