We loved our tour around St. Louis Cemetery No.1. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of interesting facts about the cemetery. It was a very hot day and she very considerately offered us shade, while she herself stood in the sun. I would highly recommend this tour and also the particular guide we had who managed to be friendly, professional and welcoming.
Interesting visit

Many interesting facts and information about some of New Orleans' notable burials here. The day was very hot for the beginning of June and there is no air movement in the cemetery so we were quite uncomfortable even with water. The movie Easy Rider was filmed in here and was the last movie the Archdiocese allowed. I would be interested in exploring some of the other famous cemeteries around the area on a not-so-hot day.

Thanks for taking the time to provide a review for us. Unfortunately, we would hope for a better rating as we have nothing to do with the heat in the deep south. We would hope that you would consider changing your review to reflect the actual tour portion with our guide and content. Thanks for booking with us at TOURS by STEVEN!
As Much Fun as You Can Have in a Cemetery

We met our vibrant tour guide and joined a manageable sized group of about 15 people for the tour. She pointed out all the highlights, explained the [oh-so-macabre] burial practices of NOLA, and even showed us the best places to get good photos. Of course Marie Laveau and Nicolas Cage's tombs were of special note, and we enjoyed all the stories she shared about their lives and quirks. It is a shame that vandalism has made tours a necessity, but it really is the best way to understand this unique location.

Karen was very knowledgeable about the cemetary, its history, and famous residents! The most famous being Marie Lavoux.

My tour guide was Sara run by Tours by Steven and she was amazing and so patient with a group that had turned up a little late and hungover, I might add. She had great poise and conversation and explained everything that was interesting within the cemetery. Even to see Nicholas Cage's crypt is reason enough its quite impressive. It can get quite hot in summer though, and Sara tried to find as much shade as she could be definitely bring water and wear a hat!

We were lucky to be the only two on this morning tour so we received one on one attention from our guide, Jamey. He was very knowledgeable about New Orleans and the cemetery so we learned a lot. We recommend talking this tour versus just walking through the cemetery on your own as you get all of the history and lore f torhe same price as the entrance fee. We took the 9am tour which was smart because it was a very warm day!! Also, Jamey texted us before the tour with a picture of the meeting spot which was a nice touch and very helpful.

Chad was an awesome tour guide. He was very informed on the history of the cemetery and all the local folklore. We went early in the day which was great because we were the only ones there at first. Later when more groups were there and we could overhear the guides we thought Chad was give us more content. You learn a lot on the tour included where some current day sayings came from. Go early and avoid the crowds.
