If you are going to do a plantation tour this is the one. It was highly informative and eye opening. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and clearly very passionate. I highly recommend this tour to anyone whose going to be in the New Orleans area. I can only hope that this tour will one day eclipse the other plantation tours in the area which don't focus on the realities of slavery. The transportation went smoothly and the tour guide on the bus was an older woman who was lovely and knowledgable as well.
An insightful and meaningful tour

Time well spent, a realistic and sobering experience... An understanding of slavery and all of the tragedies involved from enslaved person's point of view.
A must-see

This tour examines the reality of what living on a plantation meant for the slaves who were forced to be there. It’s a harsh, but needed, perspective that informs the tourists about this horrible time in American history. Our incredible guide Ali (sp?) was so knowledgeable and related the horrors of our past to many present-day practices that still exist. A sobering, yet interesting and necessary tour.
Intellectually Stimulating, Emotionally Sobering.

My wife and I researched very carefully which plantation tour to take and unequivocally the Whitney tour we selected far surpassed our expectations. To truly learn and understand this dark period of our American History this tour displays the unfiltered brutual truth of slavery. Ali was a fantastic tour guide!
finally, a non-whitewashed history!

thank you for connecting the past to the present and for honoring the lives of those who were enslaved here. in a series of sites dedicated to the stories of oppressors, opulence, and settler colonialism, the #whitneyplantation is a transparent recounting of the brutal american ‘freedom’ narrative.

The Whitney should record his tours for schools who can’t make the trip to LA. Ali’s description of the institution of slavery and it’s relevance today was truly brilliant!

This tour was number one on my list of things to do when visiting New Orleans. The logistics went without a hitch and our tour guide on the bus was very knowledgeable. On the way to the museum she gave us some background history and on the way back she played some music and gave us recommendations on where to go for dinner. The actual museum was amazing, but felt rushed. Our tour guide explained that she had been gone for 6 months and read from her prompt, which felt a bit awkwards at times, because she would say, "um" a lot and forget where she was at in her notes. At times, she would forget names of people and places as well as dates. I saw livelier tour guides and would have preferred that. I'm glad that we saw the Whitney first. Because we were able to see it from the perspective of the enslaved, I left off visiting the other plantations until our next visit.

This was my first visit to a Plantation. I chose Whitney because it focuses on the slavery aspect of plantation life. It was a great tour. Eye opening, educational and totally activated my tear ducts. Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. I recommend to this tour to everyone, families included.
