Excursión a Uxmal y Kabah desde Mérida

Muy recomendable para quien gusta de levantarse temprano y evitar aglomeraciones, te permite tomar varias fotografías al no haber tanta gente. El guía que nos tocó conoce perfectamente los lugares y el estado, durante todo el tour con su actitud y forma de llevar el grupo se ve que le gusta su trabajo y lo hace con el corazón. El traslado muy cómodo y seguro con aire acondicionado y cinturones de seguridad en todos los asientos. El restaurante de comida típica de buen sazón no dejen de probar la sopa de lima y el agua de chaya con limón.

Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. I especially enjoyed Kabah because we essentially had the site entirely to ourselves. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this tour to others.

Very good tour, the guide stopped on the way at a nearby store for those to use the bathroom and get water. It was hot in March so definitely needed water and sunblock, the sun was beating down. The only thing I didnt like is that we ate lunch way too late, I think when he let everyone vote, they didnt realize that Uxmal would take longer to tour.

This was by far my favorite tour out of the three we took! Being able to actually climb the ruins was amazing. There are no crowds at either place so the experience was much better than at Chichen Itza. Plus our guide Samuel was so knowledgeable and friendly!

Great trip with Edgar as our guide. We left more or less on time 9:30 I think. The two sites are spectacular. One improvement would be to move lunch to between Uxmal and Kabah as we ended up eating quite late Uxmal-Kabah-lunch back in Uxmal.

The sites themselves are truly lovely, really interesting. Our guide, Jorge, was charming and very knowledgeable. We so enjoyed the tour and were lucky to have great fellow travelers as well. Lunch was delicious and interesting.

Our excursion to Uxmal and Kabah was absolutely amazing! The sites themselves were so interesting, and our guide, Manuel, was very knowledgable and explained the Puuc style of architecture, as it differs from the ruins in, for example, Chichen Itza. The sites were pleasantly uncrowded, with limited vendors, and lots of time to take in all the structures and listen to detailed explanation from Manuel, regarding restoration and function. We were impressed with Manuel's knowledge, and his patience, in answering our questions. Lunch was pleasant, and we had a number of extensive travellers amongst us, so it was interesting to hear their plans, and where in Mexico and South America they were travelling too. Our driver, Joaquin, was excellent, and very open to answering questions, and offering advice.

Pros: lunch was very yummy, guide was informational, we got about an hour of free time to wander at Uxmal, driver dropped us off nearer our Airbnb at the end of the day

Cons: waited 1.5 hours for the bus to pick us up

The directions said to be ready 30-60 minutes in advance of departure time. Since we weren't staying at a hotel, we told them we'd be in front of the nearest one. This meant sitting on the curb of a busy street for 90 minutes. When I called at departure time the woman at the tour company seemed genuinely confused why we would have expected the bus already. When I called back twenty minutes later she apologized and said something had kept the driver. I wish the directions would have specifically said something like please be ready for to go by 8:30 and call if you haven't been picked up by 9:15. Something like this would have put my mind at ease. I don't mind waiting, but it seemed like no one else followed the directions or was worried by our late take off.

I would have preferred more Mayan history and less architectural information, but that's just me.

This was an outstanding tour that was made even better by the expertise of our guide, Raoul, who was not content to repeat the same old tired legends about the Mayans but challenged some of the long-held beliefs about these peoples. It was quite refreshing. He demonstrated the fascinating quetzal echo at the Pyramid of the Magician in Uxmal and provided insights into the positioning of the buildings on the administrative quadrangle. On the way to Kabah, we stopped at a hacienda that has been in the same family for several hundred years but is now being worked by Mayan tenant farmers. It was an unexpected bonus stop that added value to the tour. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing at the archaeological sites. The humidity was relatively low the day we took the tour, but I imagine it can be a bear depending upon the season. Though no one is required to do the most arduous climbs, the elevated areas provide the best vistas for photographs, so you'll probably push yourself to find the high places. You'll be more than ready for the nice lunch at a picturesque restaurant just outside the Uxmal archaeological zone.
