My daughter and I took this tour with Ali. She was so patient with the kids and even helped out some ladies who had gotten separated from another group. The city was beautiful and it was great to see it with such an energetic and informative guide. We highly recommend this tour!
Booking said our departure time was 9:15am however this was really a meeting time as the train didn't depart until 9:45am. As it was a long train trip by the time we arrived in Salzburg the morning was gone. The group was much too large for one tour guide, 30 people, even though he was able to keep track of everyone we were constantly waiting for people to catch up and when trying to listen it was very difficult to hear at times. The group should have been no more than 15 people, 20 people max. After our guided tour we were left to our own devices to explore for 2 hours which sounded long enough but it definitely wasn't, there was no time to eat lunch and sightsee so ended up not eating at all and then we got back on train at 5pm and weren't due back into Munich until 7pm so a long time between meals. Unfortunately there was an accident on the train track about 45 mins outside of Salzburg on our way back to Munich, we then had to be bused ahead of the accident and then had to catch another train to get us back. This however was no fault of the tour operator. My recommendation for this tour is to have an earlier departure time, i.e. 8:00am so there is more free time in Salzburg and to have smaller group sizes per guide. My memory fails me for the tour guides name, an Englishman in his early 30's, but he was very good and would recommend him as a tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly.
A beautiful day for a walking tour around a wonderful town. The train ride was pretty and the walking tour was informative. The guide was easy to hear and we had plenty of time for questions and pictures along the way. He pointed out some good places for lunch after the walking tour and we had time to stroll the streets after a quick lunch before meeting him again for the ride home. A very enjoyable day-I would recommend this tour.
It's a very good day trip from Munich to Salzburg. Our guide was very knowledgable about Salzburg and she took extra care to speak to each person individually on the train to Salzburg. She also was flexible in the tour itself by asking in advance the group's interests example Sound of Music - focus or not.... Finally we had 2 hours of free time when the tour finished which allowed us to explore and visit some of the sites in more detail. Overall I highly recommend this is a great our and great value..
Quick tour just to see the sights so we knew what we wanted to come and see on our next time in Salzburg. Trip was too short, but we knew that. The guide knew her stuff, however as she was explaining a date from the 1600's a passing Herr DoKtor Professor was tying to listen in. He then gruffly remarked she was one year off in her explanation. Amiably, she took it in stride and carried on. Kudos to Veronica. Tour is well worth it.
