My husband and I had a blast on this tour. The parts that were actually hiking and waterfall water slides, cliff jumping, etc were breathtaking and worth the trip. However, we didn't hike very far and felt like the 1.5 hour time we had in Luquillo to eat lunch should have been spent doing more hiking! Our guide was awesome and the views were amazing!
This tour was amazing. The hike was about 45min to an hour and definitely recommend it for people who are physically fit. It can be a little challenging if you dont have any experience hiking. Do wear true shoes! Water shoes are no good for this trip as they have no grip, Keens would be okay as long as they are closed toe. The tour portion of it was great, so much knowledge and information given to us. The water portion of the trip was great. I got to jump off a couple of cliffs, go down a water slide and get a little dirty in the mud. It was a great choice! Out of the hotel by 830 and back by 530. Great stop in the a.m for a smoothie and some fruit, and in the pm ended the day with a mojito and some wonderful seafood lunch. Loved every second of it, again if you're in good health condition, go for it! Cedric, Tyson and Andre, thanks so much!!!!
My guide (Jacob) was great and it was a nice day trip. Please note: you won't spend more than 40 minutes hiking. This is NOT a heavy hiking gig. You'll hike a little bit (yes, it's muddy, there'll be tons of rocks, and it's somewhat difficult; hiking boots are essential), but you'll spend most of your time relaxing by a waterfall, jumping off cliffs to the water etc. For me, it was more of a "water thing" than a "hiking thing." Still worth it, but I was expecting hours and hours of hiking, which didn't happen.
This tour was unreal. Our guide, Alex, was the perfect mix of adventurous and cautious, accommodating and understanding, and unbelievably knowledgable on all things about the rainforest. He actively participated in all of the activities, so as to encourage others to participate. He very thoroughly investigated safety issues and possible risks throughout the day. He catered to the crowd and adapted the hike to support the wants/needs of all members of the tour. He explained all of the things we were doing and how to properly and safely participate. This was easily the most exciting and invigorating tourist activity I've ever paid for. If I knew it would be this awesome, I would have been willing to pay three times as much. While the hike and the activities were incredible, Alex's enthusiasm, passion, and interest in everyone's enjoyment really made this tour the best.
I will note that the description may need to be a bit more explicit in the level of physical activity/difficulty this tour entails. The hike itself was definitely more rigorous than I was expecting, though very pleased with it. You will be required to get in the water at certain points on the hike, even if not choosing to swim in the pools/waterfalls. I do think the level of adventure and difficulty would likely vary depending on your guide, but it is worth noting that the current description was much tamer than my personal experience which again I totally loved.
Excellent hike for those with some experience and can climb a few flights of stairs and dont mind getting muddy. if I had to do over again I would have booked the trip with people I knew. You never know who shows up. I find peple who are late to booking times, really inconsiderate. its NOT all about you. That said, Alex was extremely considerate, well informed and prvovided fun for all. The swimming was great in the waterfalls. Saw some birds, snails, Coqui!! I would do it again. Boots or shoes with serious tread strongly advised.
Well worth the money. Be aware this is no leisure hike, especially back up hill. On the way down the morning rain made the rocks slippery and dangerous, however our tour guide alex was patient and gave great advice. We stopped at 2 waterfalls and alex said roundtrip is ~3miles.
It was an amazing hike. Alex our guide was very professional and knowledgeable and fun. It is not an easy hike, and I would recommend hiking boots. It is very slippery and muddy. Great hike, loved the waterfalls and trails. Highly recommend this hike.
