Viva la experiencia del antiguo y el nostálgico Tokio: excursión a pie por Yanaka

Really enjoyed this tour! We are a family of 4 16yr old boy and 17 yr old girl and we all enjoyed this so much! Hisako was great guide and had so much knowledge of the area! We had so many questions and she was able to answer them all! Lots of walking which was new for us but it felt great!

Reviewing our photos the next day reminded us of how much we experienced on this tour. Yo is highly qualified to be a tour guide. She made history come alive. Her tour map is invaluable so we can retrace our steps through the neighborhood. The tour just kept getting better and better. The coincidental happenings along the way were amazing and memorable, including a group photo of us with fun-loving, kimono-clad girls and men transporting a shrine to a festival. Walking through the torii gate tunnel was surreal. And how great was it that our tour guide took successive photos of us during the tour.

Delightful walking tour of old Tokyo! Highly recommended and better than any bus tour you can go on. Rie, my guide, was excellent and I had such a lovely and interesting time, learning about all the traditions, culture and customs of Japan. We walked through the cemetery, visited, all sorts of traditional houses and the lovely azalea gardens by one of the temples. If you do one tour in Tokyo do this one!!

This was one of the best, if not the best, tours I have ever taken of a city. Simply put an amazing way to see the truly nostalgic side of this fascinating city. Our guide Mikko was incredibly nice and welcoming. She went above and beyond the line of duty to share with us the beauty of the Japanese culture.

Your trip to Tokyo will not be complete without taking this tour. Our guide, Eriko met us at the train station dressed in a traditional kimono and then led us on a journey through Yanaka's many important shrines and residential areas which included two bakeries, a sake brewery and the main shopping street. This tour was very peaceful and relaxing as it felt like we were far away from the busy and crowded streets of central Tokyo.Most valuable were the insights Eriko provided on Japanese history and modern culture that provided us a depth and richness to our experience in Japan that we did not receive elsewhere. The tour requires a good amount of walking but there were plenty of places to get water and no shortage of restrooms. Don't miss the apple pie.

The tour is great! And our guide Sumiko was excellent. This tour really gave us a light nostalgic feeling. And was full enough with some historical facts. The surroundings are also nice for a walk and just to look around. All of us really enjoyed it.

We did it with a small kid of 2 years old. You can have some problem at the beginning if you have stroller, but it is still doable.

Wonderful experience! We learned a great deal and had a lot of fun. Saw things and parts of Tokyo we otherwise never would have explored. Terrificl mix of history and culture. Our guide even sent us recommendations of future things to see and do during our stay.

The walking tour in the Taito heritage area of Tokyo was THE best way to see and learn about Tokyo. Our guide, Mikiko was very friendly and knowledgeable and we felt like old friends by lunchtime!

We liked the 9am start time. Not too early. Loved seeing the Shogun cemetery and pretty streets. The hidden cafe/teahouse was picturesque and relaxing.

It is so good to see a place with a local. Thank you, Mikiko!!

We had an amazing time with Mikko san for our Yanesen tour. She showed us so many interesting places in the area and she was very knowledgeable and informative. Though it was raining the whole time we were there, Mikko san made us feel very welcome and was very cheerful and kept our mood up. The Yanesen area is rich in history and has many beautiful shrines and temples. Our favourite place to see was surprisingly the Yanaka cemetery. It was interesting to see how the Japanese people honour their dead. We were also able to see the tomb of the last shogun. All in all, we rate our experience 5 stars. Highly recommended!
