One of the coolest experiences of my life thanks to our lovely tour guide on this tour. The water taxi was driven by some young Venetian who knew the canals well, but note well, they drive their boats like they drive their cars so at some points, there were some sharp turns. But for the most part, our driver was pretty smooth. Our tour guide I THINK her name was Julia... she was fantastic and very warm was also Venetian and was a great story teller who touched on local history as well as ghost stories and she was happy to stop and answer any of our strange questions about every day life in Venice!
The tour lasted about 1.5-2 hours total and we were provided a bottle of verduzzo a traditional Venetian dessert wine and cicchetti traditional Venetian appetizer - the ones we had were sort of like canapes to snack on while we were touring. We shared this with one other person hysterical Australian chick, but the boat could probably hold up to 3 more people.
Definitely a great way to see all of Venice and in my opinion, a much better bang for your buck as the gondola rides cost a fortune! Highly recommended!
What a terrific way to see Venice!! Giovanna was waiting for us with an Urban adventures sign along with the water taxi when the 8 of us arrived 15 minutes early...so we 'launched' into the tour straight away. Six of us had been to Venice before but had never seen the city from the canals other than by the short 'bus' trips. Giovanna gives us an ongoing commentary of the city, it's history, architecture, and culture whilst we sipped on champagne and sampled the chicchetti provided. Fantastic opportunity for photos as the sun set and a cruise ship moved out of the Grand Canal. Definitely recommend!!
Great trip, leisurely pace through the canals , not rushed, very knowledgable guide, plenty of Prosecco and nibbles, slight problem if you went outside to take pictures, you couldn't hear the guide's commentary
On our first night in Venice we enjoyed the Water Taxi Cruise with a delightful, informative guide. The perspective from the water helped in subsequent days with orientation when wandering the maze that is Venice. We enjoyed Cicchetti and prosecco while hearing about Venice history and past/current culture/lifestyle. This tour was delightful.
