The Bridge at Kwai
Bridge on the River Kwai and Thailand-Burma Railway Tour | mar 2020
Positives- locations seen were good, beautiful countryside. We were early to all locations so had a good chance to walk over the bridge before the train ride. Boat ride to the bridge is better than an approach via the road.
Negatives- poor confirmation of pick up point time and location. Very little historic information given on WW2, the buildup to occupation by the Japanese, why the railway was built and the reasons behind it. Little information given on the treatment of the POW’s and the locations of camp and the original bridge. No background to the CWGC commission and why the cemetery was concentrated at its location, just left to go in and walk around. A CWGC information board was pointed out, that was all. The war museum is all but about 30 framed photographs with one line under each, no further information. These photographs can probably be sourced online with more information.
The tour was the cheapest I found to get to the locations, if you choose this make sure you do all you’re own research prior to coming as I did otherwise you will be very disappointed with the information that is provided.… Leer más
