I had a fantastic experience with Richard and Marcelo, first in the market and then cooking in their kitchen/dining area. The market was a great introduction to the produce and fish of the area. Then Marcelo led me through preparation of the two dishes I had chosen. He is very experienced and knowledgeable, and the food we made was delicious. Both Richard and Marcelo were very nice and personable, and they patiently answered all of my questions. I highly recommend this tour to everyone.

The Peruvian Cooking Class was my favorite part of our trip to Lima! Richard and Marcello made the whole experience fun, energetic, and informative. In the tour of the huge market, we met gracious friendly vendors who obviously enjoyed working with Haku Tours. Back at the kitchen, we were guided to prepare and present delicious authentic Peruvian dishes. Richard and Marcello were knowledgeable about the culture and history of their country. Also, Haku Tours is a nonprofit company that gives proceeds to help people of Peru living in extreme poverty. I wish we had booked all of our tours with this company!! They are the best!

This was a lot of fun. We loved going through the market, tasting all the delicious fruit and dinner! The only complaint we had is that we didn’t necessarily “cook”. We chopped up the produce and we stirred the pot so it more felt like we were sue chefs versus cooking especially since we are pretty good cooks at home. Overall though, we would definitely recommend. The tour guide was great and the chef very passionate!

Excellent experience, learned so much about the culture and different types of cooking methods and different foods. Didn’t realize Peru had over 4000 different types of potatoes! Highly recommend this tour, they give back to their community 60% of the cost of this tour, great company!
It was excellent. We went into the market and our guide was amazing at explaining the history of the different foods and how they are/were used. The cooks were great and we were able to taste a variety of traditional foods. Highly recommended for any visitor to give a try!
There were only my wife and I for this cooking class. They had a chef and interpreter. Both couldn’t have been nicer. Went to the market where they answered all of our questions and then to the private kitchen, tasted 6 or 7 fruits we had never had before. Cooked sevachi, made 2 kinds of salsa, and cooked fish. All wonderful.
From start to finish, I had such a delightful afternoon having the Peruvian cooking lesson with Chef David and Assistant Lucas! I have always loved specifically ceviche and the Peruvian cuisine in general, so I wanted to learn how to make a few dishes. Shopping for the organic produce and fish was helpful, because Chef David described which product was good for specific types of dishes; for example, which potatoes are good for making potato salad, which ones are good for roasting, which are good for pureeing, etc. Also, I was not familiar with the Peruvian fruits, so Chef David and Lucas gave me the names of the different fruits and how to eat or use them.
