The full- day trip to Furnas was wonderful. Our guide, João, was outstanding and the sights were really interesting. I soaked in the hot springs which I would highly recommend and the lunch, that had been cooked underground geo, thermally for 8 hours was superb. Definitely worth the trip!
We had Hugo as our guide for the day. He did a fantastic job! My husband and I were the only ones on the tour, so we had a very personal experience. It was great to see the sites of the Furnas area. We also ate at Tony's restaurant where we got to eat the meats and vegetables that were cooked in the calderas. It was very, very good! Overall, I would highly recommend booking this tour!
We loved this tour. Make sure you book it as it is amazing! Our tour guide was Nuno and he was awesome. We were the only ones who took the tour that day and we had a very personal experience. He was so informative and knowledgeable. They are perfectly happy to change the route, spend extra time or avoid something you don't want to do! I can't tell you how beautiful this place is, you have to see it yourself. I wouldn't book my tour with anyone else. We saw some of the big busses and their groups, and I can tell you this is WAY better!!
With this tour we had the best tour guide Nuno Melo, he was a pleasant and knowledgeable man of the island. He had a great sense of humour which really made the tour a lot more interesting and as we spent more time with him, he wasn't just a great tour guide, he felt like he was an old good friend. He took us around the magnificent sights of Furnas where its even impossible to describe the scenery ,you just have to see the views with your own eyes. He took us to a lovely local restaurant where the food was made from the hot pots from the geysers as well as trying the mineral water from the natural sulphur gas of the volcanoes. On the way back from the Tour, he took us to Ceramic museum which was nice to see the handmade pottery by local people and also took a stop at the tea factory to taste Azorean tea and explore the process of tea being made. Despite the weather during the day which regularly changes experiencing fog and rain we still managed to have a great day all thanks to Nuno : We highly recommend the local tour company.
