Lovely tour, kind of off-roady in style, but really cool. Lots of great views and such. The driver was awesome, telling us many jokes and local stories. The reason this tour takes 11-12 hours is the distance to the north-western peninsula around 2.5h drive. In itself, the tour is not hard on the legs there isn't much walking involved and there are is no rush in neither location. Would definitely recommend!
Our guide was wonderful sorry, forgot his name! and it was great getting to stop so many places! And although there were definitely other tourists at many of the places - it was nice that it wasn't as crowded as some of the places along the southern coast. We went on about 5 different day tours in Iceland, and this was one of the top two!
After living in Iceland for 2 years many years ago and coming back a few years ago, this was the first time I had visited this part of Iceland. It was beautiful scenery and made me excited to visit again to see more of Iceland! Our guide Andreas was extremely knowledgeable
about the history of Iceland which made the tour even more interesting. If you have the time, I recommend this tour!
Out of all the trips I did while in Iceland, this one was definitely the most action-packed. I saw so much in one day- I was very fortunate. My favorite part was the Breiðafjörður beach. I recommend hiking up some of the cliffs because there are a few hidden treasures when you go up. I also recommend getting the Icelandic lamb soup at the restaurant when you stop for lunch- it was insanely delicious and I wanted to order a few more rounds.
My only complaint was the bus or the bus driver perhaps? The tour guide was also the bus driver and as a tour guide, he was great! Very friendly and funny. Although, the driving was very reckless and the bus kept bouncing up and down. Thank goodness I don't have a sensitive stomach or else, it wouldn't have been pretty.
The Snaefellsnes tour was pretty good! Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out a lot of interesting things along the way, although he did slip in a couple racist comments when we asked him some questions one-on-one. I'm not sure if it's a culture/language barrier, but it was uncomfortable. The tour itself would've been better if the weather had been better. We couldn't see the Snaefellsjokull glacier because it was pretty cloudy and rainy, and I would've preferred longer stops, but we still learned a lot and got to see quite a bit of the peninsula. Be wary of seal poo at the golden beach.
Driver knew the area well and added lots of color to the trip. The National Park beach was the highlight. Be sure to use restrooms when available they are few and far between and the National Park ones were closed.
