Overall I enjoyed the tour, the tour guide was good and explained everything in English and Spainish. However there was not enough time in the salt flats, only 30 minutes and we were rushed back onto the bus. We were over an hour in San Antonio and 50 minutes in Purmamarca which was too long. We were also 20 minutes in Santa Rosa. I would rather less time in each of these places and to be able to spend that time in the Salt Flats.
We had a wonderful experience with Tiamar Travel’s guides. The minibus picked us up and dropped us back at our hostel. Highlights of the tour were the giant cactus valley, amazing rock variations, and stunning Salinas Grande. Even though there was a lot of driving there was always something to look at and our guide was constantly pointing out interesting features, with excellent knowledge of wildlife, plants, and geology. Our guide Eva spoke excellent English and made sure to give equal attention to the English and Spanish speakers in the group. Five stars, very good value for everything we saw.
This trip of 13 hours is extremely poorly planned and executed. Of the 13 hours, a total of 8 or more were spent driving. We made stops at the most ridiculous places that wasted time and were only able to take pictures of the colorful mountains from inside the van. One stop was right in front of "preferred restuarant" which charged 1400 pesos ($25 USD) for lunch. As soon as passengers got off the driver drive off. No other info provided other than pick up time. Thankfully we found another place to eat for 1/3 the price, but this was clearly a money grab by the tour company By the time we made it to Purmamarca it was 6pm, dark, and you could not see the 7 colors of the mountains. The tour should have been in reverse order, otherwise there is no point to any of it. Salinas Grandes was the only worthy stop but our driver failed to tell us that we could also go to the part on the other side where pictures would be a lot better due to positioning of the sun. So even that got ruined. Otherwise it's just torture. Air is not distributed evenly thru the van so people in the back were dying of heat while people in the front were catching a cold. Commentary for the tour is done in both Spanish and Englis, but information in English is a quarter of all the information given in Spanish. I understand both so no problem for me, but other folks were visibly upset. Finally at the end of the tour at 9:30pm which includes hotel drop off, the driver wanted to cut some corners and asked me to walk a block to my hotel. Normally it wouldn't be a problem but IT WAS POURING RAIN and the driver couldn't care less. He said he was going to take me to tour agency (which is obviously closed at this time of night) so I would be stranded. It was only after the back and forth argument and telling him that I recorded him refusing to provide return to the hotel and would provide it to Viator that he finally dropped me off in front of my hotel. If you want to end a 13 hour tour arguing with a careless tour provider or walking in pouring rain - this might be a good choice, otherwise run away from this tour.
Excellent guide (Cecilia) and driver, patient and with good humor. Great music onboard during the trip. The surroundings are awesome, same as mentioned in the description of the trip. It was a challenge for me to get to 4170m altitude (some headache, no coca leaves), but there are several stops on the way for acclimatisation which help and the drive up was slow, allowing everyone to manage. Fully recommend you take this one if you spend a few days in Salta.
This tour was a good way to cover a lot of ground in one day, but there were a few disappointments. The Hill of Seven Colors was cut from our tour, possibly due to timing. The guide told us it wasn't that great in the afternoon anyway and only pointed to it in passing before our last toilet stop. We did not get any photos or even a clear view of it. It seems like the route could be reversed to see it in the morning or it should not be advertised as a stop. The tour was also advertised as English and Spanish. As English speakers we felt like we got about 40% of the information. The guide would speak for lengthy periods in Spanish, then give a short English explanation. The main reason we booked this tour was the salt flats. It was disappointing that our guide used the time we were allotted for photographs at the flats to give the English version of the tour. We lost about 10 of the 20 minutes for photographs hearing what the others had on the drive.
Our guide, Edgar, was such a lovely guy, who gave us a lot of information, but also didn't speak all the time, the perfect balance!
The colored mountain, the villages, the salinas grandes were sooo beuatiful, and Edgar was kind enough to take my pictures in the salinas as I'm travelling alone. DEFINETELY RECOMMEND THIS TRIP!

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable day. The bus had big windows, so that you could admire the beautiful views of the mountains from any seat. Guide was friendly with a good level of English. However, would've liked some more time at Pumamarca because it was a beautiful little village but we barely had enough time to walk around the market. Also we arrived to see the 7 colour hill as the sun was setting and we couldn't see any of the colours due to the back lighting. This moment was a little disappointing and wish we'd seen it during the morning, when it is seen at it's best.
A long day in a minivan with enough stops and a lunch on the way to finally arrive at the Salinas Grandes. A lot of beautiful and different landscapes to be seen along the way. Our guide was professional and enthusiastic and told us a lot. Overall an interesting experience!
