Oyster Pond is on the island’s east coast, about a 10-minute drive north from Philipsburg, the capital of the Dutch side, and about a 30-minute drive west from Marigot, the capital of the French side.

For History Buffs If you are curious about the island’s unique history, visit the St. Maarten Museum in Phillipsburg, which is about a 5-minute walk from the Courthouse down Front Street. On display are Arawak pottery shards, artifacts and photos from the plantation era, as well as items excavated from the HMS Proselyte, a frigate that sank off Fort Amsterdam in 1801.
