Salvador sightseeing tours often include a visit to Barra Beach and Barra Lighthouse. Barra Lighthouse is located in the Barra neighborhood, four miles (seven kilometers) south of downtown Salvador, or about a 25-minute drive. Regular buses run to Barra, stopping along Avenida 7 de Setembro, within walking distance of the lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 7pm, while the museum closes at 6pm. The lighthouse is a picturesque spot from which to watch the sunset and crowds often gather along the peninsula, especially during the summer months.
