Pena Palace is one of the most beautiful castle in the WORLD.
You really have to experienced on first hand to be able to appreciate the magnificent architecture of the Pena Palace. Like I said in my title is fantasy land come true.
Also Quinta da Regaleira is a most place to visit, a unique place that you will never find anyplace in the world. Is a very Mystical Place that according to some of the stories was used for Initiation by the Masons in Portugal. You will be please and you will never forget your visit to the Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira in SINTRA.
This tour was not worth 100 Euros per person. When we booked we were promised a pick up at 9 a.m. at our apartment/hotel and drop off at the same location after the tour. Then just before the tour it changed to 8:30 a.m., just a short walk from where we stayed, which was okay, but then at the end of the day we were dropped off at a square 20 minutes away from where we had been picked up. It had rained most of the day and we were not thrilled about the drop off. Also, we were told we would arrive back to Lisbon between 6:30 and 7:00 and we were dropped off before 5:00, leaving us with the feeling that we had been short changed on the tour. We were suppose to have commentary through the Pena Palace tour, which we really didnt get. We did get a great commentary through Quinta da Regaleira. The tour felt a bit rushed through the two biggest attractions, Pena and Quinta, with limited time for exploring or pictures. I dont feel we got the extra touches that should have been included in an expensive tour.
There were only two of us with the guide and the driver because it’s low season. So kinda like a private tour! The guide (sorry I forgot her name, should be Julianna or something like that) gave us very detailed explanations for the two monuments.
The tour guide was boring, rude, and basically read off of a script. I booked it because i like the information you get from a guided tour, but I would have been happier doing the tour on my own. Its basically a ride to the different palaces with a few other stops thrown in. I would suggest renting a car and driving yourself.
We had an amazing tour with our guide Vasco. We were picked up near the Hotel and drop off on a central square. Our tour started in the morning with the cost-road trip through Estoril and a Coffee-break in Cascais. Then we climbed by car the hill-road to Cape Roca and walked a little there. Fantastic views.
We started the visit of the garden in Quinta da Regaleira, and then the castle itself. After that we eat lunch in Sintra, you can choose the location or go with you guide to a small Restaurant near by your own costs, we did the later and had lunch and drinks for 12 Euro each. After Lunch we visited first Sintra city for half an hour and then the garden and castle of Pena Palace.
The entrance-fee is included, we had no waiting line and the journey was very comfortable. If you dont have much time, the perfect day of sigh-seeing outside of Lisbon.
You will have your own guide, so you dont need to worry about getting the fact right that was also most comfortable. You can ask everything and all the guides seemed very nice and funny. You will feel more like a friend than a costumer. We would do the tour even next time in Lisbon again because it is so well organized, we couldnt do it in this short time on our own.
Dropping off point is an central square in the city. For us easy to walk home. Dont forget enough water, it could be hot.
Completely worth the money!
