Except for the transition bus from Lisbon to Spain, the rest of the tour went well. I would suggest a better bus seating arrangement though because of confusion due to tourist coming in and going out of the tour within the 6 Day period.
Our guide, Maria Delucas, was wonderful. She was patient throughout, even when some people didn't understand the importance of promptness or following directions. Our group was from different countries, and the pace was excellent and interesting. We selected the 4 star option, which I recommend, and all of the hotels met this standard with the exception of the Hesperia in Cordoba, which was below par. We had to change busses 3 times due to mechanical problems, including one with a brand new bus, but the changes were done quickly and without excessive delay. My only suggestion would be to skip Torremolinos, which was too crowded and where we had insufficient time to enjoy and we were dropped off in Madrid on a busy street corner and left to our own devices although Marisa did get us a taxi. An off-street drop off point would be much better.
A great way to see Southern Spain. Our guide was amusing and informative. there is no need to arrange any other city tours since there is not enough time for them Use your free time to wander around on your own. Make sure you go on the Flamingo show in Seville. It was a highlight of the tour. We took the standard accommodations and found them more than adequate and saved quite a bit
over the Deluxe hotels.
This trip covered a lot of ground which was both its strength and its weakness. Given the price, the meals, inclusions and accommodations were fine and we certainly saw the highlights and appreciated all of the stops. The local guides were not always very good though and some did not speak English well enough to address our needs. I thought that an extra day and one less stop perhaps omit Costa del Sol may have allowed more time in places and less time on the road. Unfortunately, the bus did not have a washroom which is necessary for a trip of this length with so much time on the road. It was hard to get any detailed information about the trip. I would have appreciated more detailed information at the beginning of the tour to help with my preparations e.g., about the hours of travel, the wifi password, approximate meal times, that hotels had swimming pools etc. and also on a daily basis...perhaps a print out of the day's activities. I did not think that the tour company or the tour guide were very good and would encourage viator to look for a better local company to do this trip.
The group size was really big, at one point over 40 people. It is confusing and time consuming since some people joined the tour in the middle and some dropped out en route for different directions. At one point, one elder lady joined the tour for one day and sat behind me. She was very rude and not let me closing the curtain to shade from the strong sun. The hotels are all decent, and tour director were friendly. But i do not mind paying more for a smaller group. I would not have booked this tour, should VIATOR disclose the approximate group size upfront. So much time wasted to find a missing person, or wait for another person out of WC. Southern Spain is really beautiful, i will return, though not taking this kind of tour.
This was a great tour that included most of the moorish history of Spain. The mesquite in Cordoba and the Alhambra in Granada were the major draw cards of this tour. Also Seville was included and a quick trip to Merida, which wasn't actually on the itinerary. We also had a night at Torremolinos, showing a different side to Andalucia. The optional flamenco o performance was worth seeing. The tour was not rushed and included ample free time. It included breakfast and dinners and was very good value for money. Our guide Oriol was professional and was very helpful especially with hotel check ins. We opted for the tourist hotel and they were fine.
