I cannot say enough good things about this excursion. The boat was easy to find at the marina and Francesco, our skipper, was so much fun and made the experience so special. We had 10 people on our boat and a nice bunny pad for sunbathing on our way to Capri. Francesco pointed out sights along the way and stopped in many of the grottos (not the Blue Grotto) on the way to Capri and even took photos of everyone after we passed through the Faraglioni. We spent 4 hours in Capri-- we chose to grab lunch and then hang at the free beach at Marina Piccola, where we would meet Francesco later. After we got back on the boat, we went to some more grottos and found a spot to swim off the boat. It was magical. Then Francesco pooped a bottle of prosecco and sailed back to Postiano and Praiano. Absolutely wonderful day-- wish I could go back right now!
We had the best time on our boat cruise to Capri. We boarded in Praiano and felt like absolute rock-stars when we were greeted at the marina and escorted directly to our boat. Francesco was amazing, he was very pleasant and checked in multiple times to make sure we were doing ok. We stopped in Positano to pick up more people, then headed off to Capri where Francesco took us around the island to show us the various grottoes and noteworthy items. Since it was the middle of April, it was too cold for anyone to jump in and swim when we stopped, so we all enjoyed a bottle of prosecco and the sunshine.
The boat ride from Positano to Capri was a wonderful way to see the beauty of the Amalfi Coast. We saw various formations and grottos along the way that were absolutely beautiful. Our guide provided background at each stop along the way explaining the various formations and sites we saw. We had a four hour stay in Capri providing more than enough time to eat, shop and experience the views from the top of the island.
Wonderful day on the boat. Our tour guide, Marco was spectacular! Full of knowledge and very pleasant. We took our time getting to all the grottos as to enjoy the beautiful scenery. He pulled the boat into each grotto and we were able to touch the rocks and get photos. He sang for us and played the accordion as well. Towards the end of our trip he stopped and anchored for us to take a nice leisurely swim. Our trip was finished with a champagne toast. Well worthwhile trip with our family.
I was disappointed by this purchase and wish I could have gotten a refund, but Viator's customer service isn't great. it was nice traveling in a semi-private boat, but I just didn't think it was worth the money. Our guides didn't provide any history or information during our trip. They weren't helpful in telling us what to do or how to get around once we got to Capri so we could have just taken the ferry, traveled there ourselves with more time to walk around and gotten back earlier without having to stop for 2 people to go swimming. Just not sure what we exactly paid for.
The weather was disappointing on this day, but the crew and the small group of people on board were not. We had a lot of fun in spite of the weather and learned a bit, made a few stops along the way and were told some interesting tidbits. The water was rough so the blue grotto was closed and that was a disappointment, no ones fault. I will have to go back to Capri and would not hesitate to take this cruise again. Fun!
Our captain, Francesco was awesome !! I highly recommend this tour because Capri is a beautiful island. On our way back to Positano, Francesco stopped at a great spot and we all jumped into the Mediterranean :- I inserted a photo I took prior to us getting back to the Positano port - the views were absolutely stunning.
We took this tour from the Marina at Praiano. Since several different tours leave from this spot we were pleased to see that people were available to direct us to the right boat. Francesco picked us up, proceeded to Positano to pick up more passangers, and then on to Capri. Since it was April the water was too cold to swim, but he did take us by all the sights advertised, although no one wanted to stop and pay the extra to see the Blue Grotto. The boat ride to Capri was lovely and Francesco was very engaging. Our first problem was that the boat drops you off at the furthest end of Marina Grande, making for a long arduous walk for one of our party, who used a walker, to get into the main area. The second problem is that Marina Grande is a second rate tourist trap graced only by nice views of the harbor. To get to the funicular to ride up to Capri you have to pass through a gauntlet of restaurant barkers trying to entice you into their restaurants and a lot of other hucksters selling watches, umbrellas, selfie sticks, etc. The crowds were also dense as hugh jet boats from Naples and wherever disgorged tourist by the hundreds, all crowding into the same small tourist shops. I can't imagine what it must be like in July and August. Once we had nice lunch at La Zagara, a quiet restaurant at the edge of Marina Grande, we proceeded to the ticket office, purchased funicular tickets and then rode it up to Capri where we found better quality shopping, lovely views and more crowds. The next problem was that once you eat lunch, see some shops, and walk around a bit it is time to return to the boat. If you want to see the less touristy sights on Capri take a bag lunch and head directly for where you want to go. Finally, Francesco's boat it's obviously not new broke down on our ride back and we were standed in the Sea for awhile, not knowing how we were going to get back to Praiano. Francesco did get the motor running again after some tinkering our hero and he did get us back, but the whole way the engine never sounded like it was going to make it. The boat's front prow is also low so the return trip involved quite of few wet splashes as it plowed through the waves. All in all I would recommend inexpensive ferry rides along the coast to see the coast from the water, skip Capri, and spend more time in Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano.
We specifically picked this trip because it was small group no more than 8 people. Our tour had 12 people including a lady with a stroller in a boat that would comfortably sit no more than 10. Other than that, the trip was great. Just not what was advertised.
