The Book of Kells is amazing! Trinity College Library has been a destination dream for me. As a book need it was breathtaking! The Long Room is one of the most beautiful libraries I have ever seen!! The smell was wonderful. The tour was fantastic! This is a must do your when in Dublin!
our guide Phil was the best guide we have ever had He was such a great story teller who turned the tour into an exciting adventure!! We did not even realize 3 hours just flew by. His enthusiasm , love for the Irish history ,great sense of humour thoughtful and sincere attitude towards the group under his care was really heartwarmimg. The tour with him made our short trip to Dublin incredibly wonderful and memorable. Highly highly reccomend this tour for anyone who plan to travel to Dublin. Thank you Phil
Our group was the first to get in to see The Book of Kells and the Long Room. That was a very good move as by the time we were leaving it was already getting over crowded. The guide was an interesting and the Irish tour guide one would have expected. Shared some good background for some points of interest as we walked over to the Castle.Unfortunately a downpour brought an early end to the tour. Remember to always have the umbrella at hand in Ireland.
We booked the 11.30am and dutifully arrived 15 minutes early along with about a dozen other people. At 11.35am with no sign of a guide I called the number on our booking and was told our guide would be with us at 11.45am with no explanation of why. It turns out we should’ve received an email changing out tour time to 12.30pm. Our guide, to her credit, went ahead half an hour early although missing the one person who actually got a reschedule email for 12.30pm.As for as the tour itself this was excellent but it was very busy and a big group clustering around a tour guide just added to the chaos. The book of Kells and the Old library were fascinating, the castle was not, in my opiniom, really worth the visit though.Given this is billed as an “early access tour” the main advantage is not having to wait for half an hour to get in but that’s what we did anyway. In retrospect we probably would have got the same out of it by queuing then getting a self-guide audio tour.
This was a fantastic tour: guide was on time, super knowledgable, very humorous, and really brought the Book of Kells, Library, and quick walking tour of downtown and the Dublin Castle to life. You can tell when a guide knows his stuff, enjoys the work, and really wants you to experience their town and country--this tour does this and more. And who wouldn't love the quick, easy access to the Book Of Kells as we did. Job well done. Well worth the booking in advance!
I thought it was a wonderful experience. Brian, our guide was great and so knowledgeable. Since we went in early, we were able to see everything up close, and it made all the difference in the world. I would urge everyone to see it this way! Karen
This tour is a good one. Neil is great on the history of Ireland and the book of Kells. The book of Kells is truly amazing and the library is as well. Neil has a bunch of good stories and lots of history as he takes you through the tour of Kells, the library, the College grounds, and Dublin Castle. You meet at the main entrance at College Street. After the walking and the tour, I recommend going to The Bank on the way back for some drinks before Dinner.
