Take a Walk on the Wild Side
, oct. 2019
This walk was like going out on the As Minnow for a 3 hour tour. I am pretty sure we covered 8 Km of central Florence hi-lites, starting with the original Roman town, through the barbarian hordes sacking the town, to the middle ages where it became the financial center for Europe. We learned about the Medicis, Michaelangelo, Da Vinci, and how what the Medici's built helped the allies to get into Florence, because the Germans didn't realize it was there. We learned how the city was flooded in the 1960's by 20 metre deep flood. They are still restoring some of the 4000 paintings damaged in the Uffizi gallery. It culminated in skip the line tickets to see the statue David at the Academies museum. This was where the chaos started. The security to get in is on a par with security at an international airport, but in 1/4 of the space. My ticket got misplaced as all my worldly belongings that I was carrying were scanned. So there our tour was heading through and I was left behind. Fortunately, I found a quiet corner and found the ticket. The one thing that could be added to the description of this tour is how long it is, and the fact that it is only the Academies museum that you actually stop and go into.

Tour guide Barbara, was full of knowledge and very funny! Allways kept everyone’s attention with a fun fact and joke! 1/2 day was perfect to give us all a chance to go back to anything we wanted more time with ,and ending at the Accademia was perfect, it allowed everyone to stay as along as they wanted!

Great introduction to the city and an excellent way to orientate yourself and navigate your way through Florence. It is a small city and for the most part can be done DIY but to get started you need an introduction and this is just perfect.Barbara, our guide was excellent, knowledgeable, confident and energetic and clearly loves her city and job.
Truly excellent introduction to Florence

I have been on many tours in my life and this one ranks as one of the best. Our guide, Barbara, was wonderful. She was bright, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and communicated extremely well. She had a delightful sense of humor and was able to instill in us tourists a deep appreciation for the beauty, artistic merit, and uniqueness of this ancient city. The places she took us to were magnificent, one piece of art and architecture better than the one before. It was heaven for the eager tourist wanting to learn about this incredible city of Florence and enjoy it to the max. Thank you Viator and Barbara for a fantastic tour and a memorable experience!!

Perfect Way to See and Learn About Florence!
, août 2019
We booked this trip for our family of 4, with 2 kids ages 11 and 9. We loved the idea of making it private so that the kids could easily interact and we could ask all the questions we needed to about Florence, a city that begs for dozens of questions to be asked! This tour was amazing, thanks to our guide, Alberto. He was the perfect combination of informative and fun and was very engaging and tolerant of our kids, who did melt down a little in the heat wave that was sweeping through Europe at the time. We hit all of the big sites that we wanted to and Alberto was flexible and accommodating to any and all of our requests, his vast knowledge of his home city allowing us to go anywhere and do anything. More importantly he had wonderful stories and an eye out for the lesser known details and facts, making the tour that much more special. I highly recommend taking this tour and request Alberto if at all possible!
Worth the money I would do it again

Guide was knowledgeable and tour was well paced. Appreciated it being a small group - about 7 of us. Made it easy to ask questions and not get lost in a crowd. Gave me a good idea about some things to go back to on my own time.
A lot of walking!

This tour was good and Jacomo was knowledgeable but it was hot and the museum a/c was out which did not help. The David was an amazing sculpture!
