This tour was outstanding and full of history. Our guide was excellent. Be sure to do the water option in the tunnels. It is not deep and there's no way you'll fall over and get wet, which was one of my worries. The tunnel is too narrow for that. Great tour!
This was my favorite tour while in Jerusalem. Going through Hezekiahs Tunnel was really neat and I recommend it. The water level did reach my thighs Im 52 but only for a brief moment. Oren was very energetic, well-informed, and the perfect tour guide.
Really interesting and great, well-informed guide- definitely worthwhile! The coolest part was trekking through Hezekiah's Tunnels- an underground system that was built to divert a water source to the other side of the mountain. The water still flows and you will get wet- perhaps to your waist- recommend some kind of water shoes or sandals. If you're taller, watch your head, because the ceiling is very low in places. And definitely bring a flashlight- it's pitch black without- they sell throw-aways at the ticket booth.
After having walked an hour to get here because the bus didn't show up, we were already exhausted and 5 minutes late. When we went to the window to claim our tickets that were reserved online ahead of time, they had no such reservation under my name. I gave them the confirmation number and that did not help. They never did find our reservation. I have booked other trips with Viator for this week and I sure hope we don't have the same experience. By the time we connected with the group, there were not enough seats for the two of us to sit together. It was difficult to hear the tour guide unless you were right next to her. We were not told ahead of time that we needed a flashlight. I saw them at the counter when we checked in, but they were not mentioned to us.
The tour was brilliant, provided by a qualified tour guide. The speed with which he spoke and moved the tour along was just right for everybody, none felt rushed or got bored through certain parts of the tour. He was well organised and offered a spare head torch to one of us. The guide was very knowledgeable, with good sense of humour, too. Facts were accurate and all questions asked were answered. At the end of the tour our guide offered to those who were interest to walk with him through other tunnels back to the place where we started tour ends not in at the start point, so we had an additional tour free of charge!!!
And last but not least - we were in Jerusalem in May when temperature reached plus 37 C. Tunnels tour was just a perfect choice.
Super, highly recommended.
Our guide, who - together with other young adults doing 'general service' - lives at that spot was brilliant!! Really, she created an atmosphere of interaction, enthousiasm, obviously she knew everything in great detail of all there is to see and she is able to connect it all very vividly to passages of the Old Testament Bible / Tenach. Very interesting, sometimes even moving! Thanks again!
