Valporaiso and Vina del Mar

Ashley the tour guide was wonderful. She switched between three languages seamlessly repeating the information on each site. Pablo our driver drove very well despite a slipping clutch! Valparaiso was not what I expected as the city is so built up since those paintings and pictures of multicolored streets. However Ashley took us on a great walk where we could see several colorful houses and also many fabulous murals. Vina del Mar was just another seaside beach town of condos and shops. I would have preferred going to a museum in Valparaiso. The winery stop enroute was very nice. Thanks Ashley and Pablo!

Great day, great value

Really well organised at the start of the day and throughout. Daniel, the guide, and Claudio, the driver were excellent. The trip was very interesting, and included a stop at a winery. Valparaiso is a must see. Viña del mar is a nice seaside town. Great day.

it's good, but could be slightly better... (4.3 points)

This is a well conceived, well-planned tour to Vina del Mar, Valparaiso and a winery. The tour offers an excellent overview of the area and is particularly good for time-poor travelers based in Santiago who can't afford a longer stay in Valparaiso. The staff is friendly, well-informed and professional, interaction with Viator was really good and the tour has a good balance of information, activities, and time for lunch/breaks. Extra points to the tour guide for conducting the tour in English and Spanish, and to the driver for a seamless drive in Valparaiso's busy roads. Why not 5 points? There are three areas of improvement in my opinion: a. The visit to the winery is too short for a drink, too long for a wine-purchasing stop... I'd either include a proper activity in the schedule or eliminate it altogether; b. In Valparaiso, the walks were very interesting but perhaps too short, and we should have a bit more time to wander around by ourselves (or even skip lunch to visit Neruda's house, for example); c. In Vina del Mar... what's the point of going to the beach in Winter? It would have been nicer to walk around town or maybe visit the park where the Festival takes place? All these three decisions were out of the hands of the tour guide or the driver, so I don't fault them...

I booked this because all the other...

I booked this because all the other tours on the site require at least 2 people.. which is ridiculous because this tour had a ton of people. You will spend 80 of your time on the bus.. seeing things via the bus. And when you get off the bus you will have literally 5 minutes to get off..see the thing and get back on. The description is really misleading because you will see most of the town via the bus and be forced to take pictures through the window of the bus. The recommended lunch at your own expense was decent, buffet style at a casino where it was all you could eat...you had about an hour to eat once we got in there and was able to spend 20 minutes walking the boardwalk before we had to get back on the bus. I wanted a walking tour. This is not that tour. if I had someone with me I would have booked something else.
