I did not expect to enjoy this tour as much as I did - it was a last minute thing to fill in a day. I was incredibly surprised at how good this tour was. It would have been perfect if the guide's English was a little better. I was the only one on the tour and he was not comfortable with his language skills and turned on the radio - on an Afrikaans station! We arrived at the cave and there were several school groups ahead of us, we were advised to go to the Exhibition first. It was a real eye opener, I had no idea how significant this area was for discoveries of early homonids early humans, one dating back 3-4 million years old. I was glad we did the exhibition first as it gave me an understanding of how significant the cave was before going into it and I found that very helpful. The depiction of the different 'ages' on earth was truly incredible - our time on earth is like the blink of an eye! The hands on exhibits were also amazing as was the room that showed the formation of fossils. A worthwhile journey if you have the time.
This was my 2nd trip i booked thru Viator, again i used moafrika tours and there service and arrangments was just impecible. Moafriaka tours run daily tours to cradle of mankind and sterkfontein caves so they have a much cheaper rate group rate then any other suppliers especially of you are 1 person. The Caves itself is very interssting and also a world heritage site. I really enjoyed this trip and we got back just after 3pm with pickup around 9am. Its just amazing how the rock formations formed and how the lime stone preserveed 100 or 1000s of fossils.I can definatley reccomoend this tour
