We took this tour because we wanted to see the coast with limited time and because my mother is in a wheelchair, and the only way she could see these cities on a hill was through the car, which we appreciated a lot. Our guide was very accommodating and made sure my mom could see as much as she wanted despite her limited mobility. We loved seeing the street art and historical sights of both towns. The lunch though not included was very good. I say plan to spend 50 USD for both people.
The only thing we were not a huge fan of was the stop at the shop before Valparaíso and Viña. Other than that, for the price 100 each, not sure why it advertised as 55 per person on the website was worth it.
Patricio was our guide, had a good driver too. Pros of the tour: several stops in the cities for different interest points and an amazing lunch with a view at the castle restaurant by the sea, near the Sheraton. Cons: first stop wine tasting is not, it's a potty break. No seat belts in the van.
This is a great trip outside of Santiago for those who have the time. Firstly, the only thing we would change in the trip is the wine tasting. It is exceptionally commercial and didn't provide any great insight into the wine from Casablanca Valley. This was more of a bathroom break to be honest. Other than that, our guide was courteous, offered assistance and had great inside information about both Valparaiso and Vina Del Mar. Both towns contradict each other, with Valparaiso having a bohemian feel compared to the extravagant Vina del Mar.
If you have the time to go outside of Santiago, then this trip provides some interesting insights into what life is truly like outside the capital. PS - lunch is at an amazing venue in Vina del Mar and was certainly a highlight! The other unexpected highlight was seeing one of the original statues from Easter island, which was incredible.
We had a great time. We had to change the tour a few days before the tour because of a change in itinerary on our cruise. So I can't really tell you about Valparaiso and Vina del Mar...we did a tour of Santiago instead. But the tour was very nice, and perfectly fit what we wanted to see. The only thing I would change is the seafood restaurant for lunch. It was very expensive and not that great! We would definitely recommend the tour to anyone. I'm sure had we done the original tour it would have been great as well. Carlos was a wonderful tour guide.
The tour was very interesting and relaxing. The guide came on time and we started our journey. The car was comfortable and we have lots of interesting information during the road. The first stop was vineyard. We tried vine, olives and sweets. Nice and friendly place. After that we spend half of day in Valparaiso. It is a very interesting town full of history, character and colours. We went to the Vina del Mar then for a sophisticated lunch, time on the beach and Easter Island original statue, which was a surprise for us. We returned in our hotel in the evening full of great memories. One of the best tour from Santiago. Highly recommended
