This was my favorite tour of all time. You start in the commercial kitchen of a baker/deli and learn how to make several Greek dishes. Stam, our chef and instructor, was charming and knowledgeable. We rolled dough for spinach pie, made the sauce for our main dish, and created a scrumptious dessert. All this food is then taken to the roof of the building where we dined overlooking the Acropolis.
We loved spending the night with a small group and Stam learning more about cooking in Greece. Stam was an excellent teacher - making sure to include everyone in the cooking and being very descriptive on small details that stand out. At the end of the night, we had an excellent meal with amazing views and great conversation. This is a must do if you are in Athens!
Highly recommend this cooking class. We were pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed the authentic Greek cooking class and enjoyed meeting and sharing with new friends! The restaurant makes EVERYTHING from scratch and share some of their secrets and recipes. We made a chicken dish, Greek salad, chocolate mousse, Spinach pie, and Tzatziki. We got to enjoy the fruits of our labor with wine while overlooking the Acropolis at sunset. Take the class!!!
From the moment we met Stamatios in Monastiraki Square until we ate the last bite of our meal, we knew this was a special evening. Stam was professional, fun, interesting, and an excellent teacher. He guided us through the art of making Spanakopita while we rolled out our Filo, squeezed our spinach and crushed our feta. Our chicken and pepper dish was phenomenal, as was our Tzatziki, and chocolate and orange mousse. The spanakopita was truly a work of art. Stam explained where the ingredients came from, and did so with such pride for his country. When we finished and retired to the rooftop overlooking the Acropolis, the evening became even better. Stam served us our choice of wine and then our dinner. Every moment of this experience was absolutely wonderful. It was the best part of my week long trip to Athens. Please don't miss this!
What a great time in Athens! My wife and I joined another couple and our expert chef to prepare and enjoy a wonderful Greek meal. We made chocolate/orange mouse, tzatziki sauce, hand-rolled filo dough to make the spinach pie - spanakopita. Using local organic ingredients we chopped, stirred, and prepared our dinner. The filo dough was paper-thin by the time we finished, and the many many layers of filo made the spanakopita very crunchy and delicious. We also prepped a chicken and veg stir. When everything was ready, we adjourned to the rooftop patio to enjoy the view of the Acropolis along with a couple glasses of wine -- and our wonderful dinner. Truly a great experience, and we got to keep the printed recipes to take home.
Our chef Spiros Stefanis was a great host. Good fun as well as a good chef! We made alot of! great food and the overall experience was very enjoyable. My boyfriend and I were the only two taking the class that evening so we had the whole rooftop to ourselves. We felt very VIP!
Loved the food and the setting. Unfortunately it was too cold to eat on the roofterrace the night we where there, but they solved that by letting us enjoy the view and a few drinks there before we went in to eat. Learned a lot about greek food and the chef and guide where great fun to talk to.
