This tour was brilliant. We were very lucky with the weather on this day which added to the great day. We found a pod of dolphin and they did not rush us away which gave everyone a chance to get good shots and a great view. The staff on board were funny as well as very informative and helpful. Great lunch as well. Brilliant tour would recommend to anyone.
This was a magnificent tour. We went the day after a storm, which was the tail end of Cyclone Gina that devastated Tonga, and so were concerned about the weather and whether we would be able to achieve all that is in the advertised tour. One of the stewardess told me if anyone could get us through the Hole in The Rock it would be our captain Tim, we think from memory. Well he did that very easily from our perspective and it was a great experience. Saw dolphins on the way back and they frolicked in the wake of the boat. Heard lots of interesting stories told with some mirth along the way. Finally a stop off at Russell was offered and accepted
Our skipper was fabulous with tons of information given!! It was very rough the day we went out so the people outside got wet! I would recommend taking a seasickness pill before venturing out. The lunch at the bay was wonderful! We were lucky enough to see some dolphins as we were heading back to port. I would highly recommend this trip!
We really enjoyed this tour. The Captain was informative and easy to understand. Unfortunately the water was too rough to get through the hole in the rock, but the Captain got us unbelievably close. The company pledges that if you do not see aquatic mammals they will offer a free voucher for another time. We did not see any and one of the crew began to fill out the vouchers for everyone. At the last minute on the way back we came across a large pod of dolphins including a baby dolphins. Highly recommended!!
After hurrying through a morning excursion to be on time we arrive and find out the time has been changed to a half hour later. Also, we would not see or go through the hole in the rock in a fast boat. The boat was down for maintenance. Viator was notified but we were not. Would have cancelled.
This was a great tour. Boat was clean, crew were very friendly and helpful. We spotted dolphins and were able watch them for about 10 minutes before touring around the islands. The narration was very informative and going thru the hole in the rock was fun. The lunch was really good - lots of variety and filling. It was cooler weather the day we were there so not warm enough to get in the water but we very much enjoyed walking up to the highest point to get a 360 view of the bay and islands. There were sheep all over the hillside with their babies so that was kinda cool to walk along the trail and have the sheep roaming around us nearby. We had about 1.5 hours on the island before boarding the boat again. We were able to be dropped off in Russell so we could spend some time looking around there - the crew was very helpful in making sure we knew which ferry to use to get back to Paihia and the departure times, etc. We sat up top the 1st part of the tour but moved down to the back of the boat for the last part - we enjoyed sitting on the back - less wind, less crowded and good views. Would definitely recommend this tour!
This trip was a lot of fun, the day we were booked to go we discovered it was going to rain. We went into the office and asked if we could change our day, no problem, the girl on the desk checked the coastal weather chart and changed our day there and then. An amazing day good commentary and at the BBQ stop of the captain came around and spoke to everyone asking if we had any questions or recommendations etc. - a memorable day.
Definitely a 5 star outing, starting with the dolphins playing and jumping out of vessels wake. Many fine pictures to the lunch served on one of the islands. Last but not least, the boat travelling thru cave.
Good value trip ... especially on a sunny day ! Pleasant stop for good lunch on the island. Boat was busy outside and not sufficient seating for all. Unfortunately the sea was too rough for the boat to pass through the hole.
