There are quite a few unexpected expenses that do not include the cost of the excursion. 12 USD docking fee, 30 USD golf cart rental fee optional, but the workers will try to convince you to rent one, as well as extra cash for any pictures you may want to purchase or if you want to buy souvenirs.
The cost of the excursion costs 60 USD, but I would advise having at least another 40 USD cash on hand per person this applies for those traveling with other people. They take pictures on the boat and if you want to buy them, you need to have cash on you. There are also golf carts that they rent out at Isla Mujeres for 30 USD each and up to four people can fit on one. You can also go souvenir shopping on the island and beach. We went when the waves were rough so the snorkeling was a little tough and we had a couple of people in our group vomiting from all the motion sickness. Overall, it was fun, just wish the wave conditions were a little better.
Tour ended up to be real fun. The music at first wasnt too great but once the booze started flowing and music changed we had people grouping up and dancing. It was fun but i just wish the music was jammin since the begining
This was the worst excursion I have taken ever! These crew members left us on Isla. We weren't late getting back to the dock. They actully seen us right behind their bartender. And they left 2 woman on a dam island. Thank the goddess another boat was willing to take us back. I am spreading the word.
Fun, well organized trip. The group was smaller than I expected, around 30 people. People were relatively conservative and chill, just some dancing going on but nothing crazier than that. The staff work hard, frequently refreshing the drinks, and at one point a staff member dressed up in a pirate costume and went around pouring shots into peoples mouths. Snorkeling was good, plenty of fish. Lunch was good.
Once you check in at the hotel location, they try and sell you an upgraded package for alcohol when you get to the beach. We said no, and we were just fine. It is about 45 minutes or so before you get to go on your boat. There are several other tours that go out of the same marina, so they have to load one boat at a time. Going out to the location I got a little nauseous, but not too bad. When we got to the snorkeling point, we had to get out and hold on to a yellow rope, so that we were altogether. Boat was going one way, current another, so you were banging into the person next to you and the water was choppy. I didn't see a lot of fishes and the things underwater Museum, volkswagon etc. were just okay. Too many people to really enjoy and I could smell gasoline from all the boats around, which made me feel even more nauseous. Once we got to the island, we ate, food was just okay, nothing fancy. Then we could play in the water and chill for about 30 minutes or so. My favorite part was walking around the island and taking pics and shopping. Also, once we got back on the boat, that is when everyone really started drinking and dancing on the boat. I enjoyed that the best! I might go again, but not sure if I would do the snorkeling part again.
This tour was pretty disappointing. It started off by being charged an additional 12 for a wristband to get drinks during lunch. The open bar advertised is only on the boat and only after you have done the snorkeling. It's about 1.5-2 hours of an open bar on the boat total. We were supposed to board at 10am and our boat didn't board until almost 11am, which took another hour off of our time. The snorkeling was fun and they did a good job helping those who couldn't swim well. However, they either overbooked our tour or did not prepare well because there were not enough goggles and life jackets for everyone. Our time was reduced for the snorkeling because we needed to separate into two groups for snorkeling. Lunch was pretty good with a variety of buffet-style options. Good options for vegetarians. Since so much of our time was lost, we only had an hour on Isla Mujeres. We couldn't rent golf carts because of this and there wasn't enough time to walk to the beach so we were limited to the shops around the port. The crew was nice and attentive. The extreme disorganization made our cruise subpar and I would not recommend it.
Description revisions recommended. We were not permitted to drink alcoholic beverages until after snorkeling. Also, the open bar on the island is only open if you pay extra @ the dock for that option. Also, entertainment included a guy with a wig, dancing for laughs. Being LGBT, I found it offensive
