We enjoyed the Cacao Workshop, the tour guide that we had was very knowledgeable and it made the workshop very enjoyable.
Awesome tour. One of the best we have ever had in the Caribbean. Our tour guide, Martin, was with us the entire time and did an excellent job of explaining everything we drank, ate and saw. We will probably repeat the next time we are in Cozumel.Allow plenty of time. Our tour was about 5 hours including travel to the park and back to our cruise ship.
If your group includes young children or elderly then this is the tour for you. We booked the first tour of the day and ended up sitting around waiting for the group to get big enough. We were on time but waited 1 hour for more people to show. The miniature cities were nice to look at. They had information in 3 languages next to them. There was a brief slide show and some replica art work to view also. The chocolate making was interesting. We thought we were going to make a chocolate candy bar but instead we each made a chocolate bar that makes a chocolate drink when mixed with hot milk or water. We also got to taste the different kinds of chocolate. We also sampled mole sauce with chips. What really turned us off was the asking to be tipped. We have been to Cozumel at least 10 times we are not new to this area. The bathroom attendant, the young lady who cleans up the chocolate room, the guy with a sombrero and donkey all asked repeatedly for tips. Our guide made us sit around and wait for late people so his tips would not be affected. We felt like we're held hostage going through the park. We didn't get to see the dancers because we were done with this place after 25 minutes. We had to make our way into town to go to our regular lunch truck. Like I said earlier it's ok if you have young children or elderly in your group. Maybe the tequila tour is better? This was not worth the money. The 2 chocolate pucks we made were the most expensive chocolate we have ever made.
Good tour if you like Mexican art and history. You won't find better chocolate quality anywhere else. Real chocolate at its best. The vanilla from this place is also amazing. The taco buffet is delicious. Well recommended.

My six-year-old son and I just returned from the Chocolate and Mexican history tour and let me tell you the experience was something we will always remember. Thanks Marco
My husband and I went on this tour during Oasis of the Seas' day at port in Cozumel. We go there early and were told Martin would be our tour guide. It happened to be that we were the only ones there for the early tour and were able to get our own private tour. We loved it! Martin was extremely knowledgeable of the history and culture of Mexico and didn't shy away from all of the random questions I sent his way. When we arrived at the location where we would be creating our own chocolate, we were welcomed with a chocolate cocktail and explained how chocolate grew and was originally made. We were able to then taste the way the natives first originally had cocoa--which was by simply adding water to it. From there we were able to sample all sorts of different chocolates and then make our own! While we waited for it to cool we were served chips and mole which if you don't know is made with chocolate as well. I am not a mole lover but it was fun to be able to taste! We were given wax paper to wrap our chocolate in and were able to take it on board the ship without any problems. During our tour we were also able to enjoy the papantla flyers, which we have to say was pretty impressive. We would definitely recommend this tour to everyone! And if you happen to get Martin as a tour guide, you will be in for a treat!
