Mio our guide was so passionate about his country's culture and history and shared so many interesting facts with us! The lunch was a very hearty, homey local sandwich which was very filling. The transport was very comfortable and the scenery on this tour is just amazing...from the first stop to see Dubrovnik from above, to the ruins of a hotel complex from Croatia's history, to the beautiful valleys and vineyards of Konavle valley... amazing!!! The ride was long for me and I was so tired but it was so worth it!
Met on time by Dario who was brilliant. Only the four of us on the trip so felt personal to us. He showed us a couple of things along the way including an abandoned hotel complex which is very strange but you could imagine how it would have looked in the day. He then took us to collect the bikes. Water is provided throughout. We explored some of the countryside and had lunch again provided in the shade by a monastery. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out lots of things along the way including pulling figs from a tree for us to eat much sweeter than the ones back home. Towards the end you do go off road back towards the Winery. It is not a flat cycle ride but if you are reasonably fit then you should have no problems at all. Sampled 4 wines when we got back and it was all very nice. Did buy a couple of bottles to bring home too!!
Our trip with Dario was one of our favorite parts of our whole vacation! The views during our drive out to the country were breath taking and we even stopped to look at an abandon hotel with a rich history. Afterwords we started the biking which lasted around 2 hours with sporadic breaks and lunch outside a monastery. We had tons of fun with Dario talking about the different aspects of Croatia and Dubrovnik. There was a small mix up with the winery but this turned out to be to our advantage since we got to sample wine at a private residence looking out onto the Adriatic Sea. Overall the experience was wonderful and we would call it an essential excursion if you come to Dubrovnik.
We had a fantastic day on the bike tour. the scenery was beautiful, the cycling not too difficult no big hills
Lovely picnic lunch and the guides were great, very friendly and knowlegeable.
Oh and the wine was delicious as well! We bought a few bottles home with us.
If you get a chance to do this tour, do it. You won't regret it !!
The tour was a nice change from regular tours. It started off on wrong foot as Viator's directions for meeting point were outdated but with a little guidance, we found place. Carlo our guide was apologetic. He was very flexible in his schedule and showed us stops that were not originally part of tour. That speaks highly of his character. Lunch was good and filling but maybe should have more of a selection. The wine tasting at end was very good as well. Would recommend to anyone. It should be noted on website that pickups can be done from cruiseship port. Paul from Canada.
A great day out away from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik. It was a good chance to get out to the countryside for a few miles of cycling with a picnic stop at a secluded lake, a really enjoyable experience and Karlo was a fab tour guide!
It seemed as though the tour organizers were attempting to make up a tour out of very little. It was ok up to the little authentic restaurant 10 minutes? where I thought we should have had an opportunity to sample the traditional method of cooking food in the unique creekside restaurant. Instead we moved on to the a location where the impact of the war was evident. That was an interesting discussion. From that point on we were off onto a very rocky, bumpy, unpleasant, no scenery dry, dusty 'field' This was after one our group members unfortunately fell and injured herself. Then we took our runners off to maneuver ourselves and bikes across a shallow creek. No mention of that in the itinerary. So bare feet on a creek bed with a bike in tow is not great. We lunched on a loaf of bread with a little bit of filling inside. We then were offered dental floss to clean our teeth the guide proceed to floss his couldn't believe it. Continuing on through more rocky, dusty path through a dry field towards a 'winery'. It was not worth spending a precious day on shore in Dubrovnik to do this tour. Stay away until they figure out a much better itinerary.
Really nice even though the wine tasting can be greatly improved. The wine presenter did not tell much about the wines nor the winery itself. the cykling is great, beautifully set in Konavle valley, and the guide Carlo was fantastic.
