We enjoyed the tour once we were in Granada. But we were concerned about the local tour company saying that there were no pick up places (e.g. hotels) in Malaga. When the bus arrived at the pickup point it was already 1/2 full! We had to cancel two other tours because of this.
Our tour of the Alhambra was excellent. Our guide was amazing, but she had to do multiple languages, as there were 2 couples that spoke spanish and not english. made our tour a bit longer, but our guide did a good job of trying to balance it. Our bus tour was another story. The man who was the guide on the bus did not speak english well, and the bus was a mix of french, spanish and english. The guide seemed like he was reading the same script in 3 languages and was not gracious at all. He was rude, and since we did not understand english, any question we asked was met with hostility. also, we got to granada during siesta, so the only choice we had to do was eat lunch and could not shop. Alhambra, totally worth it. The rest of it, not so much
We would like to thank your tour leader Paco Ruiz, for a beautiful tour of the unforgettable Granada and Alhambra. It was a great experience and at the same time it was very educational. For those who love history and architecture, once again Granada is the city not to miss. Well done and thank you Paco.
Tour of Alhambra including palace was terrific with an excellent guide. Bus ride was comfortable and guide Vanessa provided a great deal of interesting information about Malaga and the surrounding area. However, the less than two free hours in Granada were insufficient to see anything of substance so of little value. Why not include one sight e.g. Silk market, cathedral for those who prefer not to just wander or shop?
Very informative and enjoyable. But may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility. There is A LOT of walking involved. Also again, as with the Cordoba tour, there was not enough free time in Granada. One more hour would have been very welcome.
This trip provides the best coverage of all of the Alhambra structures, gardens, etc. Be prepared for a LOT of worth-it walking with many steps and stairs. Take an Advil before you go!! You will see good views if the countryside from the bus. The stop in Granada is OK cathedral and shops. Make sure you include lunch as you will need the fuel. The local guides in the Alhambra are very good - non-stop talking and in great detail. Very interesting and informative. While the trip said 10 hours, it was 12 by the time we arrived back to the pickup - but it was worth every minute.
This tour had potential that Julia travel once again managed to squander by expertly wasting half a day.
First things first, Alhambra is everything they say it is - gorgeous and completely fascinating. This was in large part due to our wonderful guide not our Julia travel guide, but our guide only for Alhambra. She was fantastic. Enthusiastic, engaging, well informed, articulate, and funny. Just a joy to be with and made the trip truly memorable, even under unrelenting rain showers!
And that's where things fell apart. After having toured Alhambra, the day could have, and indeed should have, ended. But, our guide Paco decided we needed to spend the next several hours walking around in the rain to do....nothing really. We looked at a building, but only looked as we didn't go inside any of them to see anything even remotely interesting. We were then were given limited time to wander and eat only to end up waiting another 25 minutes to wait in the cold rain for the bus to return. This part of the trip was a complete waste of time. Not cool, Paco. Not cool.
Alhambra is still a must see. I just wouldn't do it with Julia Travel. Get there on your own if you can and get a guide when you get there or take a tour that is exclusive to Alhambra with no pointless excusions.
Excellent tour! Our guide was brilliant - spoke fluent English and was a font of knowledge. We met the coach at a central location in Malaga only 10 minutes walk from our hotel. The coach was very comfortable and we stopped on the way up to Granada to freshen up, grab a coffee etc, and also on the way back. In Granada itself we had about 1.30 hours of free time so we took in the Cathedral stunning and had time to grab a quick bite of lunch before meeting up and getting back into the coach and on to the Allhambra. Our tour included entrance to the Allhambra and I gather that some tours only include the gardens so make sure you know exactly what you're booking. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
