The day trip to Luxor was an absolute disappointment. The guide was terrible didn’t come into the temples with us , he charged us £40 English pounds for a 5 minute boat ride across the NILE with a loud engine blowing smoke in our faces. We were told we would see Luxor temple from the boat which was barely visible. We were rushed at the temples but when we stopped at the store we could stay as long as we wanted because we were spending money. The guide advised us not to spend money at the temples a bit convenient as he wanted us to buy at the end. All the admissions were standard and to top out off we couldn’t visit king tuts tomb we had to pay extra when we paid £250 already and when you consider entry to the tombs is about £5 /£6 it’s a joke and the guide was pathetic!!! Don’t bother do it privately when you get there taxis are very cheap and better value for money. At the end of a 16 hour day the guide thought it was acceptable for us to wait outside an hotel for 30 minutes with four children one of which one years old, Who was very irritatable and tired for him to collect money and was rude when we questioned him. If I could give this trip no stars I would!!!
I came with my mother and brother after finishing a masters degree in Egyptology. We had an amazing day and our guide was incredibly knowledgable - I enjoyed his insights greatly. The food was nice - a buffet with something for everyone. We even had a little Nile Cruise because there was extra time. Truly one of the best days I have had in years and I would recommend to anyone. My family felt the same way. Wonderful, thank you very much.
A fantastic trip. We were a very small group just four and our guide Rafat and driver Mahmoud were the best that we could have asked for. Anyone would be extremely lucky to have them - Rafat explained everything in great yet concise detail and knew the answer to all our questions he always gave his explanations in the shade meaning that we didn't roast ourselves in the sun, whilst Mahmoud really made our transfer times as short as possible since he knew all the quickest routes to take.
We got to see a great deal, firstly having a stopover for refreshments halfway to Luxor, then heading strait to Karnak, after which we opted for a trip across the Nile before grabbing lunch and heading to see the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Kings. In the Valley it is necessary to pay extra in order to take pictures 300 LE and also for entrance to Pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb 200 LE. Before the Valley you also get the chance to visit a genuine alabaster workshop and see how amazing sculptures are made out of the rock and buy something if you so wish.
Overall it was a trip worth every single penny and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Moreover, if you book ahead of time I would phone up and request Rafat and Mahmoud - you won't be disappointed!
Hot does not even slightly describe the day. Take water, sunscreen, hats and something sweet to get up sugar levels. The trip was as expected, long but the views amazing and the villages an eye opener of how the locals really live. The farm lands are so well organised and despite the baron outskirts so green and lush. Luxor was dry and humid, but tourism is low so you have the advantage of seeing the sites to their fullest with minimal crowds and great photo opportunities. The size of the site is mind blowing, you learn about how some of the structures were built and there is some colour on the ceilings from the paint used to make the pictures come to life. Do not get stung with some recommending spots of where to take photos lesson learned. The sphinx were amazing coming into the valley of the kings, a prime photo opportunity. Valley of the Queens was even hotter than Luxor and the higher you went up the temple the hotter it got. They have repaired a lot the damage kind of wish they'd left some of it how it was to a degree and the building is amazing. The stairs on the way up transport temporarily back in time, wow - how amazing it would have been to see in it's day. Valley of the kings is baron and you can see how well they hid their treasures. We were able to see 3 tombs all Ramsey's to which are empty except for the hieroglyphics which cover the walls and ceilings. They are a bit cooler on the inside but there is a strange smell we cracked 50 degrees outside. I wouldn't worry about paying extra for King Tut's tomb, you see the door but they are really quite similar except some are longer, more rooms etc. The vendors are quite bad in Valley of the Kings but the best way to deal with them is to ignore them as heart breaking as that can be. No photos can be taken in the Valley of the Kings unless you have a pass but I wouldn't recommend it. Those that tried to get away with it got busted and it was not something I think they would risk again given the outcome was not pleasant but luckily the tour guide stepped in and helped them out of the pickle they were in. Buffet lunch was fine I guess, I struggle a lot with the food in Egypt being a vegetarian however the bread was amazing so I have carb overload. In all honest, it was so hot the thought of food made us sick. We really ate quite lightly the entire time we were in Egypt. We have never drunk so much water in our lives. Despite the heat, what an amazing day. The tour was well organised and the staff could not be more accommodating. We highly recommend this trip.
Our guide was amazing Ashraf, seriously, THE BEST EVER! He is obviously passionate about his job and was more than happy to answer my questions. Great sense of humour and really wanted us to experience the beauty of his country. The tour was well timed and while there were of course a couple stops where his friends want to sell you something, this didn't take up much of our time compared to the rest of the trip. I wanted to buy some bicarbonate of soda for health reasons which I couldn't find in the shops, Ashraf found it for me the next day, then found me on my next trip with a different operator two days later and gave it to me for free! I couldn't be more happy with this trip, a treasure and something I can always look back at and remember with a smile.
Amazing excursion with a very friendly guide. Difficult to resist the heat in Luxor but thanks to his kindness we had enough cold water. Incredible beautiful ancient places to see with his deep knowledge of their history made our tour really unforgettable. Great idea to have a short Nile cruise cost us 10 euro per person, refreshing breeze before lunch gave us energy for second part of the tour - Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple. We have visited Alabaster Factory where we had a nice cup of mint tea and some refreshment and of course pleased with shopping.... prices ... from the space but you can have a real stone, not a concrete at last : We can just highly recommend the tour.
We had the most remarkable trip to Luxor with Ashraf guidewho was outstanding, passionate, informative, and extremely knowledgeable, he was able to answer all our questions even helped take group photos. The driving in Egypt is crazy but our driver Osama was amazing, driving safety and careful being in time all day long. We will have many memories to take back with us and I highly recommend it , Mr Ashraf will turn your trip into an unforgettable experience! From all my group 10 personswe just want to say Thank You Ashraf ,Osama and White Shark Travel.
Excellent Trip albeit a long day with an early start and late finish. Our Tour guide Ahmed was superb. Very knowledgeable and when one of our party lost their camera, both he and our driver could not do enough to try and help find it. Thankfully the camera was simply misplaced and was found after the trip was over but superb service from both the Driver and Guide. Would not hesitate to recommend this trip.
