The lava cave was well worth the trip! Not your usual sightseeing our tour guide was excellent....you could tell he loved his job! The thermal pool at the hotel was small and not worth the stop for us, but probably good if you have younger children. Remember, you need to shower before and you are not in America!
This was a great tour. Our tour guide/driver was very courteous, knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. She answered all our questions about their culture, traditions. We learned and appreciated it all. The cave tour was very interesting and enjoyed it. The cave tour guide was courteous, knowledgeable and answered our many questions. This is worth doing. We stopped for lunch at a very nice restaurant. After the tour enjoyed a dip in the geo thermal hot spring....as it snowed!
Long day(12hrs) but worth it. Lots packed in to your tour and tour guides were great! Lava cave was ok, there is a better one in Thingvellir NP. You will see beautiful landscape and waterfalls, and thermal pools were totally relaxing! Very nice, albeit long day. I don't recommend for little kids.
The lava caves and waterfalls are really beautiful - and the guide at the lava caves was great too, but we felt there was too much time at Husafell camp. It also wasn't great that we were stuck there for lunch with only one option - we didn't actually fancy the buffet lunch which we felt was over-priced, but we were stuck at Husafell so actually just ended up eating some crisps for lunch! The Thermal Pool is ok but is basically just a concrete swimming pool, not particularly scenic so just be aware of that!
Lava Cave was very interesting. Thermal pool a little disappointing. Just a big concrete pool. Maybe I didn't know what to expect. We went in January and everything around the pool was very icy. Watch your step.
