I was a single traveller and i booked this tour last minute thru Viator. I was charged the shared group rate and i find this tour excellent Value for money. Moafrika Tours fetched me on time and showed me soweto from the eyes of a local guide. Our guide Mdu was born and raised in soweto so we got to see many places not on the itinerary that was a huge bonus. The highlight for me was the interaction with the locals and the guided walk thru the shanty town. Moafrika Tours was very professional in communications. Mdu was excellent. My only disappointment is i wish i had booked a full day tour how ever i had a flight to catch. We did also stop at a local shebean and had some local food was also really great experience. I will definatley book many more tours thru Viator as i was very impressed
Sonny collected us punctually from the hotel at Monte and was friendly. The van was clean and spacious. The actual tour was disappointing - a stop at Hector Pietersen museum but we were left on our own with no guide to wander around. Dreary display and dirty and littered outside. Back in the car - not even given a bottle of water let alone a Famous Black Label in a shebeen. Weren't even offered to get out on the famous street where Mandela lived and the stalls are all open. So much litter in Soweto apparently because of the municipal strikes but strange how everyone else in other suburbs manages to keep their refuse in bin bags on their own property whereas in Soweto it is in huge piles all over the open areas and in the streets. Soweto developed better than expected and a surprisingly small amount of electric fences and security - everyone should move there! All in all an overpriced tourist trip :
What an amazing day out, our guide Khusto was amazing.
He collected us on time 10min early actually and took us on a wonderful tour of Soweto. We visited the Regina Mundi Church, Hector Pieterson Memorial / Museum, Vilakazi Street and even stopped outside the Mandela house.
Khutso answered all of our questions that we had, which were not many cause of how he explained everything in detail to us.
From booking the tour, making payment, going on the tour and the guide there was nothing to faulty at all.
We will certainly inform all of our friends and work colleagues about the local tour operator.
Well done guys and keep up the good work.
