This was the first tour of the trip and it was SO fun! It's really easy to find and they even have a small parking lot. Most of the chocolate tasting happened at the end of the tour so don't worry! but it was really fascinating to learn about the plant and the process along the way. The guide was really entertaining and even got me up dancing in front of the whole group I know, I can't believe it either. Just make sure you bring/apply extra bug spray before you go!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny which made learning about the cocoa bean and chocolate-making process enjoyable. You get to eat lots of different forms of chocolate from it's early stages to it's final stage. The warm chocolate shots with spices and fruits to add to your liking was delicious!
We loved this tour. It was very informative, and the tour guides were funny and entertaining, as well as informative. You learn about the whole history of chocolate, with practical guides on what to look for, etc. The only downside was that I was hoping to get a walk through the plantation, but no such luck. The classes are taken to a small outdoor classroom, near the entrance, and talked through the chocolate process. At the end, the groups are given a variety of chocolates to try and with different ingredients. It was true, you can eat as much as you like, yummy! Overall, very informative and entertaining!
Its a great tour ! value vs money and very educational. I am indeed a chocolate lover and I fully support what they do . My constructive feedback for them would be the following: if you advertise yourself in travelocity and have a Spanish option available you should deliver as expected. My son and myself are fully bilingual but we chose Spanish for the benefit of my husband. We arrived on time, nobody greeted us , rather we went to the small store to present our voucher, the tour guide started the tour and focused all his attention to the English speaking group, he started the tour without even asking about the language, we claimed we bought a Spanish tour by the time they responded the guide had already started ... really made us feel left out. A lady then wanted to help and arrange for spanish tour but as the say says ... the cake was already in the oven.. we decided to stay with the group and i translated to my husband. What really bothered is that the tour guide knew Spanish perfectly in this circumstance he would had made the difference only buy making a bilingual tour...
Love chocolate! The tour is good! Needs improvement in client relationship!
We weren't sure what to expect with this tour, but we were thoroughly impressed with the experience. Not only was the tour highly informative, but Kevin made the presentation especially entertaining, engaging with the group and answering all kinds of questions.
Getting to make our own chocolate was a lot of fun.
This tour was wonderful, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting La Fortuna.
The tour was informative, entertaining and yummy. We made chocolate the way the natives did centuries ago and then tasted it experimenting with about a dozen of different flavors. Learned a lot about history and production of chocolate. I would definitely recommend it.
