Excellent tour and food. Andrew Carter was a great guide and provided a history about the Farmers Market. We did 5 food tastings, starting at Bob's Coffee and Donuts with a warm glazed donut and apple fritter, both were unbelievable. Then on to a Brazillian Steak House for some beef, chicken and sausage. Our last stop was at Magee's Homemade Ice Cream. They were celebrating their 100th anniversary in the market.
An absolutely wonderful tour . Great guide with Los of knowledge. At least all tastings. No need for lunch. Be prepared to go back browsing to buy goods. Locals fantastic fresh produce to take home. Be there at about 9 am- 10 am
We had a fabulous time, highly recommend the Farmers Market Tour with Andrew as guide. He gave an interesting history of the market and the vendors we visited. He patiently answered our questions too. The tastings were varied and delicious, none of us went home hungry. We all had a greater appreciation of this Los Angeles landmark.
Viator was enjoyable to work with also. Thank you for offering this great tour!
Great adventure, Tour guide was Andrew. This man is funny, talented, a historian and a man who has passion about all things food and all things LA. This tour is well worth taking the time and enjoying the connection to down to earth market people. Andrew is caring and has an unique connection to his audience. Do this tour. You will have no regrets, Just happy bellies. :-, And a chance to meet like wise people to share a chat and a laugh. Enjoy !!.
I can't recommend this tour highly enough, but I'll try. Our tour guide, Andrew, knows the Farmers Market inside and out, having worked at one of the stops for a few years. We stopped at six different food vendors, and while we noshed away, Andrew filled us in on the history of that vendor and the Farmers Market in general. The food was great at each stop, and it's easy to avoid any particular food allergy you might have - just ask. The contact at the tour company was just as gracious as Andrew. Even though we know the Market pretty well by now, we'll take the tour next time just to hang out with Andrew for a few hours. Highly recommended!
I got the Los Angeles Farmers Market Small-Group Food Walking Tour for my mom as a birthday gift. I didn't know what to expect. Yesterday was the tour at 9:30 in the morning . It was my mom, dad and myself along with about 4 other people in the group . Andrew was our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Farmers Market and the early beginnings. We headed over to Bob's Doughnuts and Coffee. We had the coffee, the apple fritter and a classic doughnut. After that we got a history lesson on Huntington Meats about Kobe beef and a few other meats. We then walked over to an area where Andrew showed the group how Farmers Market uses these green baskets as grocery carts and services them weekly to make sure the wheels work properly. Then the group headed over to this really cute shop called Mr. Marcel. we tried caviar cheese, After that we walked over to Magee's House and we tried peanut butter and it had very little oil in it which was nothing I have ever tried before. Our last stop was Bennetts Ice Cream and we got the Fancy Nancy which is a coffee flavored ice cream, caramel and banana. I would really recommend this walking tour for locals and people who have never been to the Los Angeles area! It's really fun and informative food was great and tour guide was fun too.
