The tour started with an on-time departure from the New York Hotel. Get there on time because the bus will leave you if you are not there on time. The tour is mixed with guests staying at the Disneyland Parks-so be sure to bring your paper voucher and check in with the tour guide. The city tour of Paris is nice and it is not verbally given. You receive an audio headset where you can listen to the narration in the language that you prefer. Now, on to the actual tour. The tour guide, although very nice and sweet from Venezuela does not actually give you a tour of these Louvre Museum or the Seine River. They are basically present to give you the tickets and everything else you do is on your own. That's it! The tour guide goes with you to Paris and does not go back with you to the hotel. They actually are there just for the ride. You will spend about 4 hours in the Louvre Museum, which by the way, you CANNOT see everything in 4 hours. However, you will skip the regular line! We took about 1.5 hours to see the major paintings and works of art and then spent the rest of the time to have lunch outside of the district and to walk around the area. Go to the Locks of Love bridge. Bring your own padlock and key and leave your mark! There are locals outside that are desperate to sell you street merchandise. Politely say no and keep walking. Unfortunately, one of them did not understand no and continued by following us. We got aggressive with him and finally he understood to back off.
The Louvre Museum is packed with so many people! Beware of pickpockets! Unfortunately, they are in the museum and everywhere in Paris. You can spot them easily if you are very aware of your surroundings. With that said, be extremely careful when you take pictures of the Mona Lisa in the Louvre Museum. People from all over the world huddle up to see a painting that is covered in a glass case and do not understand the meaning of boundaries. If you have been there before you probably know what I am referring to. If you are claustrophobic or do not like people extremely close to you, invest in a zoom lens or go very early or late at night. Directly in front of the Mona Lisa is the Wedding at Cana painting. Such a huge painting that, in my opinion, is under appreciated. The Museum is fantastic! So many great works of art but you will need to spend a good week to see it all and to appreciate the masterpieces! Nevertheless, it is definitely something you want to visit in Paris. The Museum guides are extremely helpful and will direct you to the work of art you want to see. Please do not use your flash! The guides are very strict with this. Remember to adjust the light and shutter speed settings on your digital camera because the glare on the paintings will not give you a great image. Make sure you get a map of the museum although there are signs that will point you in the direction of the major works of art Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, etc...
The Seine River cruise was just ok but nothing spectacular about it! The tide of the river was high so we were not allowed to sit in the upper level of the boat. I would recommend doing the Dinner or Lunch River cruise and more than one hour. You do get a nice view of the attractions from the river so have your camera ready! The view of the Eiffel Tower from the river is spectacular! If you get free time after or before the river cruise, have cash on hand! Some of the crepe booths have a main sign that accepts credit cards but somewhere else that is not easily visible says you cannot. Just ask before you order.
What would have made this tour more enjoyable was if the tour guide was more of an active participant in the tour rather than an inactive participant.
