we chose the 7am trip.
Pickup was at 5h45 from Waikiki and they were here on time, drive to the west of the island took about 50 mins from Waikiki.
there is a small restaurant there where you can have coffee /breakfast there while waiting for other attendees.
Then They make you sign a paper saying they are not responsible if anything happens to you during the whole excursion.
then you decide what you wanna eat when you come back back around 10h45 am.
towels are for sale so bring your own, wet suits for rent 10 usd... in my opinion : should be free.
A photographer will be with the group the entire time with professional gears. Cost to get the internet link to download all the digital data pictures and videos 55 usd. We thought about getting it at first... but then we didn't, since there was not a single picture of us with animal in the background.
we were on the boat approximately 20 ppl around 7h30 am. During 1h30 we were just sailing around... in a hope to see some animals.
We saw a few Dolphins jumping out of the water and about 2 whales that were 300m away. First dive finally happened after 1h30-2h on the boat! That was a bit long and by the time we got into the water the Dolphins went away already, so we did 3 attempts of quick jumps into the water and on the 3rd one we finally managed to have Dolphins nearby us in the water note : nobody is allowed to chase them we enjoyed it for 5-10 mins max.
Once back on the boat, a curious sea lion put his head out of the water looking at us for a few seconds.
After another 15 mins sailing time, we went to another place to see 1only one big turtle that went away very quickly, and then went to return the gears and eat. 11 am.
another 50 mins drive to drop us off at out hotel.
I do understand you need some luck and expectations can be high.
But at the end we spent a total of :
1h40 driving on the road time .
2h30 boat sailing time.
30 mins in the water among which
only less than 10 mins with animals!
So it's really more a sailing on a boat looking desperetaly for dolphins/whales several hours experience, rather than a scuba diving experience.
I would not do it again. 270 for 2 people, it is way overpriced and they still charge you for towels/wet suit....
I believe the price should be half of what it was.
positive note : the woman accompanying us seems to have good knowledge about the animals.
Kinda disappointed because we are not allowed to dive in the water, only stay at the surface. And that day dolphins were all swimming at the bottom so it's hard to see them clearly. The snorkeling site was good, see couples of turtles! Also recommend their photo service, the photographer took awesome underwater photos!
This is a great tour, and the team that took us out on the ocean was great. I would recommend this tour. The description should mention that there is a 45 minute van ride each way. I had the misconception that a boat would take us from Honolulu to the site, so that was a little surprise. Once on the water, it was fantastic and the team that took us out there was truly awesome. It was a great day, would have been good to know that there was a long van ride.
What an amazing experience...! KK, Lisa and M. were fantastic. We saw so many dolphins close up and a couple of turtles nearby too. I recommend you to take the photo package because the pictures are truly fantastic. Lunch was OK, but the crew made sure the small group was really looked after and watched at all times. Highly recommended!!!
The tour was amazing and I could not thank the crew enough, but disappointed that we paid $$ for photos from the trip on November 15th 2017 though still have not received them to either of the email addresses that we provided!!
Really enjoyed this small group tour, we learned a lot about the island and the amazing sea life. Saw lots of dolphins, turtles and a cute baby whale with his mom. Swimming with the dolphins was a unique experience.
